If you were offended by “all lives matter”, please stop and think about “never again is for everyone”, or failing to mention Jews in posts about the Holocaust. #NeverAgain#NeverAgainIsNow
This painting is 115 years old.
It's by Zinaida Serebriakova, a remarkable artist with a remarkable life involving both World Wars, the Russian Revolution, Paris, and personal tragedy.
This is her story...
Thread on Refaat Alareer. I strongly disagree with his past statements defending October 7 and describing all Israeli civilians as combatants.
1. Refaat attacked the left wing Prime Minister of Nepal for condemning the shooting of Nepalis and other civilians on October 7
🧵IMPORTANT UPDATE to Hamas casualty count falsification thread. MORE falsifications proven based on review of December numbers with a massive jump in claimed percentage of women & children killed; Men killed DROPS dramatically! Also a response to a main criticism. 1/
Zionism is the belief in the self-determination and statehood of Jews in their ancestral homeland. Nothing else. Full stop.
You don't get to redefine the term according to your own whims or ignorance.
The idea that the horror of October 7 should result in a new diplomatic push for a Palestinian state is so moronic. The message has to be that spectacular terror makes statehood impossible. The precondition for any two state diplomacy now has to be new Palestinian leadership.
As a left-wing Israeli let me tell you: there will be no forgiveness.
We won’t forgive Hamas, their supporters, and those who choose to look the other way.
@JakeWSimons Agreed with you until the words “estimable @DanielJHannan” as he’s a disingenuous idiot who helped wreck the country to indulge his own pseudo-intellectual vanity. I wish support for the idiocy of Brexit and support for Israel were not becoming inexplicably co-extensive.
There are almost 2 million Muslims living freely in Israel as full citizens.
There are only 136 Jews alive in Gaza today. They are all underground, in tunnels, held at gunpoints, tortured and abused— just for being Jews.
If you want a glimpse of how a binational #Israel/ Free Palestine will look like, look at the Kurds in #Iraq. When they tried to secede, the world punished them (because no self determination for Kurds, only for Palestinians). Kurds were forced to stay in Iraq, but now Baghdad is punishing them by withholding salaries of Kurdish public servants for last few months. Iraq is not paying its own Kurdish citizens that it didn’t let secede. Baghdad wants to twist the arms of Kurds to make them concede whatever is left of their autonomy and re-centralize federal Iraq.
So what happens if a binational Israel/Palestine is created, where Sinwar could be elected Israel’s Prime Minister? What could possibly go wrong?
Let non-Arabs/non-Muslims live. We Arabs/Muslims cannot offer them liberal multiethnic democracies like America, so let them have their own states. I just don’t get why this is so hard to understand for many Arabs/Muslims.
Israel does not need to be lectured by the West like it's a 3rd world rogue sh*thole. Officers from Western armies literally go to Israel to study methods of avoiding civilian casualties, like roof knock method pioneered in Israel.

I have to tweet this; I hope you share it.
In the last 8 weeks, you'll have seen reports from first responders who came to places in Southern Israel where massacres were carried out by Hamas.
Some come from an organisation called Zaka. I want to describe what Zaka does.

@khaled74@emilykschrader Maybe as it’s the only state in the ME in which minorities have equal rights in law? Also ethnostate is an interesting critique when every other ME state is both an ethnostate and actually monoethnic as a result of ethnic cleansing. Jog on with your slurs, you’re clearly clueless
@khaled74@emilykschrader What else have you guys got? Fundamentalist theocracy, authoritarian dictatorship, theocratic autocracy - have I missed any other styles of government available in the ME, Israel excepted?
