Let's make the world a better, more efficient place though awareness, innovation, cycling, art, music, food, humor, dedication, generosity and kindness.
@HLPClips Reminds me of Seneca on pre-rehearsing adversity: "Set aside a certain number of days, during which you shall be content with the scantiest and cheapest fare, with coarse and rough dress, saying to yourself the while: 'Is this the condition that I feared?'"
@HLPClips The other part of doing it quick and clean - after you deliver the news don't stick around to poke the wound with your presence. Wounds need undisturbed time to heal. Like Chris alluded to take your ego out of it and let them move on without you.
Shohei Ohtani since he took a game off on 5/13 MLB ranks:
.357 BA (3)
.457 OBP (2)
.671 SLG (1)
1.128 OPS (1)
11 HR
205 wRC+ (1)
2.11 ERA in 7 GS (42.2 IP)
On pace for 11+ WAR
We're witnessing the greatest individual season by a player ever.
@shimsha54653167@DodgersNation Choosing when he speaks English is an important nuance you seem to be unaware of. Ohtani can understand and speak English very well in private, preferring to use an interpreter to avoid the risk of miscommunication and to connect with his massive Japanese fan base. Respect.
@SahilBloom Proof of Agency. Great term. This concept can be simplified even more tho - choose almost any new habit / experiment (like giving up a vice or luxury - a favorite food or beverage for example).
@levelsio Hack: open your windows. CO2 builds up quite quickly just from exhaling it in the closed room. Add a dog or family and that C02 level goes up quickly. Also never stay in a hotel where you can't open windows for fresh air
Only one chance in this lifetime…
Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.
I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.
If you come across someone asserting there is "no scientific evidence" that social media is causing harm, please send them this link.
We lay out seven lines of evidence, including RCTs, natural experiments, and testimony from victims & perpetrators of harm

People who age happier and healthier tend to do 7 things:
They don’t smoke, exercise regularly (but not excessively), maintain a healthy weight, and are mindful with alcohol or other substances.
But one of the most interesting ideas that @arthurbrooks underscores is that the "happy-well" also have 3 less obvious traits.
They keep learning, they develop real skill in dealing with life’s problems, and they prioritize love—through a strong marriage, close friendships, or both.
@FigureRobie The topic in the cartoon (not the trend) reminds me of French philosopher Jean Baudrillard's The Evil Demon of Images (1984/1987), which provides a framework where animation, film, and media images are seen as diabolical forces that replace reality with a "hyperreal" simulation.
