Critically, by comparing neural similarity between nonsymbolic and symbolic fractions in 2nd and 5th graders, we extended Dehaene and Cohen's neuronal recycling hypothesis to the domain of fractions.
Excited to share one of my PhD projects with @EdNeuroLab-the first neuroimaging study on fraction processing in children! Our findings showed that even 2nd graders, who haven't received formal fraction instruction, can process fraction magnitudes. https://t.co/t9xmZBrZJ5
I am excited to announce that I will be starting my own research group at the Hertie Institute for AI in Brain Health @uni_tue in Tübingen ! My group will investigate the mechanisms of altered brain function in brain disorders using personalized biophysical whole-brain models.
Hippocampal encoding of memories in human infants. Great to see this important study out now in @ScienceMagazine from the lab of Nicholas Turk-Browne @Yale@CIFAR_News https://t.co/ZIhglhYpQM
I am so excited to announce that our first #fNIRS study of #math_cognition in #South_Africa is now out as a preprint: https://t.co/y8A3YmcY1n
It has been a great collaboration with Kathleen Fonseca, Parvin Nemati, @AliRahimpourJ, and @ElbieHenning
Finally it's out! Short‐term number sense training can recapitulate long‐term neurodevelopmental changes from childhood to adolescence. https://t.co/tJ9qfbu10O
Integrated number sense tutoring remediates aberrant neural representations in children with mathematical disabilities https://t.co/BMqDBWkfNJ #biorxiv_neursci
Preregistered Preprint Alert! Math language matters for children’s fraction arithmetic ability, not analog representations of non-symbolic magnitudes! Feel so good that my covid-era study is finally out:) https://t.co/iuElCyl4A0 @PercivalMatthe2
RCTs can play a role in building scientific knowledge and useful predictions but they can only do so as part of a cumulative program, combining with other methods, including conceptual and theoretical development, to discover not ‘what works’, but ‘why things work’.
Bella presented our idea for a new study on the neural bases of rational number processing and whole number bias. Come find us if you want to chat about it! #MCLS2023@bella_starling
What if you don’t model response times in fMRI models? Biased condition difference estimates and potential surprising fake group associations. Our paper has the details and fixes https://t.co/GvA2RbEN4s
TY! @russpoldrack@patrickgbissett@IndianaJonesSr @sunjae_shim @JaimeGotobed
I've just accepted a tenure-track faculty job starting August 2023 in Educational/Developmental Psychology @UWEauClaire!! I am so excited to get back to teaching and feel very grateful to be moving so close to family! 🧵1/x
