Meet Matiullah Wesa, an inspiring advocate for girls' education in #Afghanistan 🇦🇫 and the founder of The Pen Path organization (@PenPath1). Since 2009, he has been a prominent figure in the fight for education rights in the war-torn nation.

In 2016, Wesa led a book donation campaign to establish libraries in #Kunar, #Helmand, #Kandahar, and #Uruzgan provinces, aiming to provide access to knowledge and opportunities for countless young minds.

Throughout 2017, he tirelessly journeyed across Afghanistan, tirelessly campaigning for the reopening of schools, emphasizing the importance of education amidst adversities.

However, on March 27, 2023, tragedy struck when the #Taliban arrested Wesa in #Kabul, accompanied by a raid on his home. This shocking event elicited sadness from former President @KarzaiH, who fervently called for his release.

The international community, represented by the @UN, also demanded transparency and information regarding Wesa's arrest and location.

During the past 14 yrs Penpath alone provided education opportunities for 76thousand girls. We focused on areas where no school for girls existed before and during 1 year we taught 5180 girls. As time pass more girls will be given this opportunity and many household will benefit.
