@athyuttamre Yay!
Possible additions 🙋
1. Dot says goodbye back and then hangs up
2. Dot leaves a voicemail if I don’t answer. Although I’m not sure how that would look. Or follow up text “hey - tried to reach you, here’s what’s happening”
3. Dot calls who? 👀
Also seeing some feature requests:
1. Dot should hang up when you say "goodbye"
2. Dot should call you when something urgent comes up
3. Dot should be able to call others
Heard on all of these!
I really like Geoffrey Hinton. He started working on AI and neural networks in the early 1970s. I’ll bet that at the same time he is cautious about it, he is also completely blown away by ~56 years of progress.
Geoffrey Hinton: I don’t think Donald Trump really understands AI.
“I think he’s being badly advised about AI.”
“It’s rather foolish to push so hard toward superintelligent AI before we understand how to coexist with it.”
“We’re about to create things that are more intelligent than us, probably sometime within the next decade.”
“You can’t rely on companies to regulate themselves when there are enormous financial incentives involved.”
“Winning a race to superintelligence is a lot like winning a global nuclear war. There is no winner.”
Bill Gates has revealed his plan to prevent AI from causing an economic collapse: Taxing robots.
He believes governments should tax companies for AI "workers" like they would human workers and give the tax money to people who can't find jobs.
Sam Altman just shared his personal ChatGPT Dots setup
At DevDay, OpenAI introduced dots, always-on agents with their own computer in the cloud. Altman also showed how he already uses one.
Every night the dot reviews everything that came in.
Before the day starts, it pings with anything urgent.
Over time it learns how he likes to work and where his attention should go.
The keynote listed bigger jobs to hand off too:
> monitor bug reports and test fixes in draft PRs
> find what is slowing down your app
> move an app off a legacy API before it shuts down
How to set up the same one is in the image below.
Introducing Griffin, the first model to pass the video Turing test.
48% of people who talked to it live thought it was a real human. Previous systems have had a pass rate <3%. It is #1 on NVIDIA's benchmark for full-duplex AI video.
It’s the first Human Interaction Model (HIM).
Once the failed call thing is fixed with dots, would be really cool if the rings were different every time, like a real assistant. 1 ring if they’re right at their phone, 3 rings if they had to grab it, 5 rings if they were running from the other room. Just spontaneous.
Also, have it call you sometimes, and if you can’t answer, it’ll leave you a voicemail.
These are comparable to asking for the ability to fill your gas tank in a video game, but I think they’re genuinely cool.
Got it. So Tom Cruise is a human, not a donkey, nobody smoked a blunt, nothing was filtered, the text wasn’t physically softened, and there was no sound. I still don’t understand why that guy called him an ass, but I think we should just leave it alone at this point. I’m going to bed.
