I am lost as to how anyone could misunderstand what happened yesterday.

Generally speaking, women are not outraged about Base possibly bringing adult content onchain. Adult service workers are more punk and anti-establishment than most of the people in crypto.

Women are pissed because we’re tired of being unimpressed.

Since EthDenver alone, major accounts in CT have called women ‘cheap and easy,’ rolled out ad campaigns that punch down at people who are passionate about gender issues and continued to crank out copypasta for sers, chads and manlets.

What follows is so predictable that it’s gotta be a feature, not a bug:
- the guys flood the replies of anyone who expects better, call them prude and tell them they don’t get the joke
- We get an apology that is more about explaining away the behavior than the steps taken to prevent it from happening again
- and here’s the big one… the gentlemen who are respectful and a pleasure to work with day to day ***dont say anything at all.***

Devs marketing to devs, women being each other’s only allies…it gets you just so far. And so we have to ask: Are you sure you really want us here?

And I think the women, who have to be all things at all times, inherently know that being taken seriously is about having good taste. There is a school of thought that believes some art is cheap: gross-out humor, useless nudity, excessive cursing for shock value. It’s not really anyone’s place except the company itself to judge if using sex in their marketing is on target and a good decision. The use of the word ‘pimp’ is a choice though. And no matter how often the term appears in rap it doesn’t change that pimps play a central role in sex trafficking and exploitation of women.

We’re not offended. We’re bored of waiting for this industry to meet the bar, so that we can exceed it together.
