ERASING "MOTHER" AND "FATHER": NEW YORK FAMILY BILL SPARKS OUTRAGE OVER FAMILY VALUES AND GOVERNMENT PRIORITIES
A newly passed bill in the New York State Legislature has triggered fierce backlash after replacing key references to "mother" and "father" in family court and child support laws with gender neutral terms such as "gestating parent" and "non gestating parent." The legislation has now been sent to the governor, Kathy Hochul, for her signature or veto, and has quickly become a lightning rod in the national debate over family, language, and cultural direction.
This ill-conceived decision lands at exactly the wrong moment. With American families under pressure from soaring inflation, housing costs, and ongoing economic strain, Democrat lawmakers have chosen to focus on what they called symbolic language changes that do little to ease the real burdens facing parents and children. It is a clear reflection of a political class increasingly detached from everyday realities, prioritising ideological reform over practical solutions for American families.
In reality, removing the words “mother” and “father” from legal statutes is not a minor or symbolic administrative update as they claim, but a fundamental shift in how the state defines family itself and risks weakening long-established social foundations that underpin family life. It is indeed part of Dems' broader cultural movement that increasingly seeks to detach public institutions from the moral, religious, and historical traditions that have long shaped American society and must be condemned by real Americans.
To preserve the Judeo-Christian values and cultural foundations that have historically shaped American society and ensure that future generations remain connected to these traditions,
Republicans must rise to the occasion and not treat this legislation as an isolated state issue, but as part of a broader cultural trend that warrants a coordinated response at both the federal and state levels. Changes made in the name of inclusivity today usually have far-reaching consequences tomorrow, particularly given America's enormous cultural influence around the world.
Therefore, swift intervening measures such as strengthening parental rights protections, preserving the terms "mother" and "father" in legislation, expanding religious liberty safeguards, promoting family-centred tax policies, and advancing educational initiatives that emphasise the role of family, faith, and personal responsibility across all Republican controlled states and at the federal level are encouraged without delay.

THE RAPID RESPONSE OF NIGERIAN SECURITY AGENCIES IN TRACKING ORDINARY CITIZENS, YET THEIR FAILURE TO DECISIVELY TACKLE KIDNAPPERS
In present-day Nigeria, the efficiency and capability of the Nigerian Police and other security agencies are often clearly demonstrated whenever an ordinary citizen is reported for an alleged offence. In such situations, security operatives move with remarkable speed to trace, track, and apprehend the accused person, regardless of location, often within a very short period of time. Their coordination, intelligence gathering, and professionalism are displayed with striking effectiveness when dealing with civilians.
However, the same level of urgency and efficiency appears largely absent in the fight against kidnappers, bandits, and terrorists who continue to terrorise the nation. Almost every day, Nigeria records fresh incidents of abduction, killings, and violent attacks carried out by criminal groups. Families are forced to pay ransoms amounting to millions of naira to secure the release of their loved ones. During these negotiations, kidnappers maintain repeated communication with victims’ relatives through phone calls and other channels, while ransom payments are sometimes delivered in relatively open and traceable locations.
This raises serious questions: where are the highly efficient security agencies during these operations? Why can the same technology, intelligence systems, and rapid-response mechanisms used in tracking ordinary citizens not be effectively deployed against kidnappers and terrorists? Why do these criminal elements continue to operate with such boldness despite the existence of multiple security institutions?
The horrifying treatment inflicted upon kidnapped victims is both heartbreaking and unacceptable. Many innocent Nigerians have been subjected to torture, humiliation, starvation, and in some tragic cases, death, simply because they or their families could not meet the financial demands of their captors. Some victims have disappeared without proper burial, leaving families in endless grief and trauma.
The seeming inability or unwillingness of security agencies to decisively confront this menace has fueled public suspicion and loss of confidence. Many Nigerians now question whether there is negligence, compromise, or even possible collaboration between certain security operatives and the perpetrators of these heinous crimes. Such perceptions, whether true or false, continue to damage public trust in the nation’s security architecture.
The responsibility of protecting lives and property rests squarely on the shoulders of the government and its security institutions. Therefore, security agencies must rise to the occasion by intensifying intelligence gathering, strengthening coordinated operations, and ensuring that kidnappers, bandits, and terrorists are swiftly brought to justice. Doing so would not only restore public confidence but also serve as a strong deterrent to future offenders.
Nigeria must not allow criminals to appear more powerful than the institutions established to defend its citizens. The safety, dignity, and security of Nigerians must remain the highest priority of government.
The time for decisive action is now.

FAITH BELONGS IN PUBLIC OFFICE: WHY SKY NEWS’ MATT BARBET’S CRITICISM OF HEGSETH IS WRONG
Matt Barbet was wrong to suggest that public officials should not quote the Bible. People do not abandon faith when they enter office, and neither should they be expected to. If politicians can quote philosophers, activists, or poets, they can quote scripture too. It is a double standard to object to Christian references in public life while treating secular and progressive ideology as perfectly acceptable in public debate.
America’s heritage openly acknowledges God, “one nation under God” and “In God We Trust” are not accidents but reflections of a moral tradition that has shaped public life. Even in the U.S. Capitol, the House chamber features a prominent relief of Moses among the great lawgivers who influenced American legal tradition, and the official Capitol description notes that Moses received the Ten Commandments. That makes it even more absurd to pretend biblical language has no place in public life.
True pluralism does not silence Christian voices while welcoming every other worldview. It protects the right of believers to speak openly in public life. Criticising a public official simply for citing scripture is not neutrality. It is intolerance dressed up as secularism.
Faith has always had a place in democratic debate, and it should remain there. If commentators can use their platforms to promote secular or progressive values, they cannot fairly deny Christians the right to express biblical convictions in public office. That is not pluralism but prejudice. Sky News must call Matt to order!

WHEN TRUSTED MEDIA LOSES BALANCE: A CLOSE LOOK AT SKY NEWS
Sky News has built its name on trust and credibility over many years. That is why it is deeply disappointing to see how Sky News is increasingly using its platform in a way that appears openly hostile toward Israel and consistently critical of Donald Trump.
This is not about avoiding criticism. Every government and leader should be questioned. But when the tone of reporting becomes one-sided again and again, it stops looking like fair journalism and starts looking like a fixed agenda. Many of their reports now feel predictable, with more focus on blame than on full context.
There have also been real incidents that raise concern. Sky News has had to issue corrections after misreporting on sensitive Israel-related matters, including a widely criticized misquotation by one of its presenters that drew over a thousand public complaints. In another case during Gaza coverage, the use of wording that suggested a child was killed by a “stray bullet” sparked backlash for appearing to soften responsibility. On the political side, analysis segments involving Donald Trump have repeatedly leaned toward strong negative framing, often emphasizing controversy while giving less attention to broader policy context. Each of these cases may be defended on its own, but together they point to a pattern that viewers are beginning to notice.
Concerns have also been raised about the reporting style of David Blevins. His coverage, like that of the wider network, has at times been perceived as leaning in a particular direction, especially on politically sensitive issues. While journalists are expected to ask tough questions and provide analysis, there is a responsibility to maintain balance and avoid framing that appears one-sided. When reporting consistently reflects a similar tone or angle, it risks reinforcing a narrative rather than presenting a full and fair picture. For a journalist in such a visible position, maintaining neutrality is not optional, it is essential to preserving public trust.
What makes this more concerning is that Sky News was once seen as a balanced voice. Today, it is beginning to sound more like Al Jazeera, a network often accused of pushing a particular narrative. Whether or not that comparison is completely fair, the fact that people are making it shows that something has shifted.
A respected media house should inform, not influence. It should present all sides clearly and allow viewers to decide. Sky News needs to reflect and return to the balanced reporting that earned it public trust. If not, it risks losing the very credibility that made it powerful in the first place.

POPE LEO'S TRUMP CRITICISMS AND THE DANGER OF A POLITICIZED PAPACY
The papacy is not a political office, it is a sacred charge to shepherd the global Church with spiritual authority, doctrinal clarity, and moral consistency. Yet recent public criticisms of former U.S. President Donald Trump by Pope Leo have caused growing unease not only among Catholics, but across the wider Christendom and even among neutral observers. When the Bishop of Rome appears to single out, one political leader while echoing narratives commonly associated the political Left risks diminishing the universality of the office and entangling the Church in partisan conflict.
The Church has every right, and indeed a duty, to speak on moral issues that intersect with public life. But there is a clear difference between offering principled, consistent moral teaching and selectively criticizing specific leaders. By publicly rebuking Trump over policies tied to national security and the fight against terrorism, while not applying the same level of direct and visible scrutiny to other global actors, the papacy risks appearing politically selective. Trump was elected to govern and to act on threats as he and his administration judged necessary. When the Pope critiques those actions in isolation, it invites the perception not of moral leadership, but of political positioning.
That perception is reinforced by widely witnessed events. When Pope Leo visited Turkey and met face-to-face with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, many across the Christian world expected a clear and unequivocal challenge regarding the conversion of historic Christian churches, most notably Hagia Sophia and the Church of the Holy Saviour in Chora, into mosques. These were not minor developments, they were globally recognized moments with deep symbolic consequences for Christian heritage. Yet no comparably strong public confrontation followed. Likewise, for decades, Iran has openly promoted hostile rhetoric against the United States and Israel, including repeated chants of “death” to those nations, with little sustained papal condemnation at the same intensity. In contrast, the willingness to sharply criticize Donald Trump stands out, and not in a way that strengthens confidence in even-handed moral leadership.
The issue extends beyond politics into theology. Assertions that God does not answer the prayers of those engaged in war are not minor misstatements, they cut against the plain reading of Scripture as understood by many believers. The Bible repeatedly shows figures such as David, Moses, Joshua, and Abraham praying in the midst of conflict and receiving God’s direction. God is called the “Lord of hosts,” and scripture affirms that He strengthens and prepares His people in times of battle. These are not obscure passages, they are central to the biblical narrative. Any suggestion that dismisses this reality risks creating confusion and undermining confidence in the Church’s teaching authority.
At a time when the world is deeply divided, the papacy must stand above political alignment and speak with clarity, consistency, and spiritual depth. Pope Leo has a responsibility not to mirror political rhetoric of the left, but to guide the faithful with timeless truth. By stepping away from selective political criticism, particularly of figures like Donald Trump, and refocusing on his core duties of teaching, unifying, and defending the faith, he can restore confidence in the papacy’s role as a truly universal and spiritually grounded institution.

UN AND EU MUST STOP LOOKING AWAY FROM NIGERIA'S KILLING FIELD
For years, we have watched the United Nations and the European Union jump into action when certain groups are targeted. We see the press releases, the emergency sessions, and the threats of sanctions.
But when it comes to the systematic, daily slaughter of Christians in Nigeria, that same energy vanishes. It is replaced by a "blind eye" and a cold, academic silence that is costing thousands of lives.
The double standard is deadly because every human life is sacred and Christian lives matter. When a Muslim is killed, the world should be outraged. But that outrage must be consistent. Right now, it isn't.
In Nigeria’s Middle Belt and North, Christian communities are being wiped off the map. Mothers are being killed in their farms, and children are being hacked to death in their beds. Yet, the UN and EU continue to describe this as "communal clashes" or "consequences of climate change."
This isn't just a misdiagnosis; it’s a lie. It is targeted, faith-based persecution, and by refusing to call it what it is, you are giving the killers a free pass.
The UN and EU were founded on the idea that human rights are universal. If we are all truly "under the same umbrella" of humanity, then why is the focus so lopsided? Where is the equal attention? Where are the special rapporteurs for the thousands of Christian orphans?
Why is the plight of a Christian villager in Plateau or Benue State treated as a "local matter" while other conflicts get global intervention?
By staying quiet, you are telling the perpetrators that killing Christians carries no international price tag. You are effectively telling the victims that their faith makes them invisible to the world’s "protectors."
We don’t need more "expressions of concern." We need action that matches the scale of the tragedy. Stop hiding behind the "farmer-herder" narrative. Acknowledge that Christians are being hunted for their faith and their land.
Use your diplomatic leverage to force the Nigerian government to arrest and prosecute the killers. Financial aid should be tied to the actual protection of these vulnerable communities.
Give the slaughter of Christians the same floor time in Brussels and New York that you give to any other major humanitarian crisis.
Justice isn't justice if it’s selective. You cannot claim to stand for human rights while turning your back on one of the greatest organized killings of our time.
It’s time to stop looking away. It’s time to treat the blood of a Christian with the same urgency as any other human being on this planet. The world is watching, and history will remember your silence.

GO HOME IMMEDIATELY! TRUMP TELLS JUNKETING TINUBU AS MAIDUGURI BOMB BLAST KILLS 23
Over 23 persons have been reportedly killed with 108 others injured after Boko Haram suicide bombers attacked the city of Maiduguri, Northeast Nigeria.
The attack which took place at 19:24PM across at three separate locations— the post-office area, the Maiduguri teaching hospital, and the Maiduguri Monday market has drawn global condemnation, including from the President of the United States, Donald Trump, who described it as a “total disaster.”
Trump spared no words in criticising Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for “shaking hands” and enjoying “fancy diners” in a UK state visit while “people are being blown up.”
Since Tinubu took office, over 20,000 Nigerians have lost their lives due to insecurity created by Islamic terrorism. Its already impoverished citizens have had to spend over $1.4billion in ransom payments to kidnappers since 2023. And with the nation further plunging over 100 million of its population into multi-dimensional poverty due to fiscal and economic recklessness, the ruling APC government appears to have all its focus on wooing voters with foodstuffs and electronics giveaways ahead of the 2027 election.
“Get on a plane and go home immediately,” Trump advised Tinubu, “You don’t stay abroad during a crisis like this. A real leader is on the ground with the military and the people, not cutting ribbons in London.”

NIGERIA-UK STATE VISIT: BRITAIN MUST QUIZ TINUBU ON CHRISTIAN KILLINGS
There has been growing calls for the UK to confront Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over the incessant killing of Christians in the northern part of the country, The calls follow Tinubu’s planned state visit to the United Kingdom, on Wednesday.
Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi, is scheduled to be received by King Charles at the Windsor Castle before proceeding to Downing Street to meet PM Keir Starmer.
Since ceding colonial rule in 1960 and subsequently aiding the massacre of over 3 million South-Easterners in the 1967 Civil war, Britain has maintained limited intervention in its diplomatic relationship with Nigeria.
As the global head of the Anglican church, it has sat on its hands for decades as Islamic-extremism increasingly suffocates the nation's secularism to the detriment of Christians. Over 200,000 Christians have died at the hands of Boko Haram, Fulani Herdsmen, ISWAP plus other Islamic terrorist groups since 2009.
Prominent cases include the livestreamed lynching and razing of Deborah in 2022 by pro-Jihad undergraduates, murder of street preacher Deaconess Eunice in 2016, the Owo church massacre in 2022 which saw the bloodied body of over 40 worshippers litter the pews and aisles, and the livestreamed terror attack on Christ Apostolic Church, Kwara state, last year among countless others.
Nigeria accounts for 80% of all kidnap and killing of priests, No country on earth sheds as much Christian blood, in recent times, as Nigeria.
But it is unlikely Britain's condemnation, or lack of it, will make much difference. Under Starmer, Britain has become the Western Headquarters for Sharia law—-the same under which Deborah was murdered—and Britons passionate about their country who hold strong Christian faith, are labelled “far-right.”
Still, it would be one for the records to see where Britain stands on the issue of Christain genocide in Nigeria, and more importantly if it can take a cue from Nigeria in its fight against Islamic terrorism.

“UK FOUNDED BY GENIUSES, NOW RUN BY IDIOTS”- SEN KENNEDY BLASTS STARMER
Louisiana Republican Senator, John Kennedy, has gone viral after offering a scathing criticism of the current UK government as being “run by idiots”. Senator Kennedy’s comments follow on the heels of US President Donald Trump’s comments on Keir Starmer, in which he stated “this is not Churchill we are dealing with.”
Trump’s comments came after the UK Prime Minister refused US military access to its RAF base in Diego Garcia, forcing B-2 pilots to undertake a gruesome 36-hour flight back to Missouri.
With “Operation Epic Fury” now entering its 11th day, Trump has notified Starmer that the decision to finally send its warship, HMS Dragon, only yesterday is a little too late and perhaps “no longer needed.” Starmer’s cold-feeted unco-operativeness has not gone unnoticed by Washington even as cracks to the ‘special relationship’ between both nations loom.
As the US battled to destroy Iran’s nuclear capability, Starmer cosied up to pro-Ayatollah Islamists at the Big Iftar in Tilford, proudly declaring the UK’s lack of participation in the attacks.
Today, the Bank of England declared it will replace images of Britain’s finest statesman and World War II hero, Winston Churchill on the five pound note with hedgehogs and Otters. This follows after statue of the veteran was vandalised, last week, by pro-Palestinian protesters.
"Britain must get a grip. Its never been this pathetic to watch such glorious nation cower to radial Islamists for the sake of votes," a Grimsby native who pleaded anonymity retorted.

The English Premier League should reconsider its policy to pause matches at sunset during Ramadan. The policy deviates from the neutrality embedded in the Laws of the Game, written by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) and followed in competitions under FIFA. The principle that states that sport must not be used for political, religious, or personal expression exists to keep the game a neutral space, free from ideological or sectarian signalling.
If one faith’s observance warrants an in-game pause, what is the consistent policy for others? If every religious request required structured stoppages, a 90-minute match would struggle to remain 90 minutes.
Religious freedom is a private right, fully respected without requiring changes to the format of play. A football pitch is not a place of worship; it is a competitive arena governed by uniform laws designed to apply equally and without preference. Neutrality is not optional. It is foundational. click to continue reading https://t.co/K9jMWFJdkE

UKRAINE PROVES WHY GREENLAND MUST NOT BANK ON THE EU
“Not one inch Eastward” was the promise of the European Union’s NATO made to Russia in 1990. Over the next two decades, NATO would, in fact, inch eastward by co-opting over 14 post-Soviet states into the EU including Poland and Hungary.
Sensing Russia’s inaction for weakness, as analysts would say, a coalition of the Obama-led US government and EU allies would then go on, in 2014, to destabilise the presidency of Yanukovich—Ukraine’s 4th president— for refusing to join the EU bandwagon on a deal termed “humiliating.”
Since 2008, and in recent times, the EU have continued to entice and romance Ukraine with the idea of a NATO alliance and an “irreversible” EU membership. Over 100,000 Ukrainian deaths and millions of injuries, so far, and Ukraine is yet to become a member of the EU.
While war is nasty and the brutal actions of Putin and Russia must never be excused, it is important to keep into perspective the series of betrayal and hypocrisy by the EU that has contributed to destabilising Ukraine, destroying its prosperity and plunging it into a debt-ridden full-scale war with Russia now inching close to its fourth consecutive year .
A similar hypocrisy and betrayal is now at play in Denmark as the EU—which conditioned its €90 billion intervention in Ukraine as a “repayable” loan—appears to tout itself as a defender of Greenland against the forces of Trump.
All 56,000 Greenlanders are advised to take a cue from Ukraine and learn what devastation awaits a reliance on EU’s promises. The “Compact of Free Association,” as proposed by the Trump-led US government is a reasonable deal that guarantees Greenlanders sovereignty with the added benefits of economic and security from its partnership with the US.
It is, for a fact, better than the ‘busload of soldiers’ the EU plan to offer or the economic imperialism of China which has no experience in maintaining a cross-continental defense pact for seventy-six years.
