Current food production modes/policies and pricing is based on decades of relatively predictable and within reason ( not too extreme nor frequent) harvest variability). The past decades have not prepared us for the significant impacts of persistent change in climate.

Berkeley Earth gave a 1% (YES ONE PERCENT) chance of exceeding 1.5C in 2023. Boy, were they and others wrong.... 2023 blasted through 1.5. We are hugely underestimating the risks of accelerated warming and what is actually feasible at this point to mitigate the energy imbalance.

@bigskydude777 @GasPriceWizard With 2024 looking to be a tough year my bet is they are suppressing 2023 numbers to roll over some sales in 2024 and max bonus payouts in both years. A down year in 2024 vs 2023 would invite extra scrutiny from overseas. This is a common ploy in business.
