Founded in 1919, the Aerospace Industries Association is the voice of the American aerospace & defense industry on critical national security & economic issues.
AIA's @chrisjcarnahan , Assistant Vice President, Standards, took part in the 2026 @SES_Standards Annual Conference in Ottawa, joining leaders from across the standards and trade community for an important conversation on the future of innovation.
The discussion explored how standards are shaping global competitiveness, market access, emerging technologies, regulatory alignment, and international collaboration. Chris brought AIA’s aerospace standards perspective to the conversation, highlighting the critical role industry associations play in connecting industry, policymakers, and regulators — especially as technology advances and global trade priorities continue to evolve.

The real challenge in digital transformation isn't technology — it's ownership.
While two-thirds of organizations say they have strong leadership support for implementing digital thread, less than half have a clear strategy. That gap? It's all about who owns it.
In AIA and EY’s #AeroInsights webinar, industry leaders Timothy White, Raman Ram, and Colleen Reiche, explored how to scale #DigitalThread adoption across aerospace and defense.

AlA appreciates @HASCRepublicans & @HASCDemocrats’ work on the #FY27NDAA to provide a strong topline & bolster the defense industrial base. We look forward to continuing to work w/ you to advance our shared goal of promoting competition & innovation & delivering for our troops.
I was part of a terrific discussion on the future of @NASA yesterday @spacetechexpo with @AIAspeaks Amber McIntyre, @exploreplanets Mat Kaplan and @SETIInstitute Franck Marchis
It’s an exciting time as NASA reorganizes to accelerate human exploration!
Digital thread is no longer a nice-to-have — it's a must-have.
A new AIA-@EYnews report finds that while adoption is widespread across aerospace and defense, only 14% of organizations have achieved enterprise-wide implementation.

Strong step to reinforce national security and U.S. leadership in AI. The technology is advancing now — maintaining our edge will depend on how quickly we turn innovation into real-world capability.
Today @POTUS signed an EO that keeps America leading in AI while putting frontier AI capabilities to work strengthening our cyber defenses.
AI systems are now the most powerful tools we have ever had to harden our cyber infrastructure and stay ahead of adversaries. It is a real blessing that these capabilities are being developed by American industry, and not by those who would use them against us.

Join AIA and @EYnews on June 4 at 1:00 PM ET for a discussion on scaling digital thread adoption across the aerospace and defense industry.
Industry experts will discuss the current state of digital thread adoption and share practical strategies for scaling beyond pilot programs to achieve enterprise-wide impact.

🚨WATCH: THE FUTURE OF AVIATION IS TAKING OFF🚨
It was an honor to become the first U.S. Transportation Secretary to fly in an eVTOL🇺🇸
Now we’re taking the future of flight to the next level with projects across 26 states that include testing of:
✅ Urban air taxis ✅ Emergency medical flights ✅ Regional travel
America will WIN the race for the next generation of aviation @BETA_aircraft@FAANews 🦅
Thank you to @RepRileyNY for visiting AIA member Therm Incorporated’s Ithaca facility to discuss strengthening America’s aerospace and commercial aviation supply chains, growing a skilled workforce, and ensuring American manufacturers remain competitive in the global marketplace.
This Memorial Day, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage will never be forgotten — and their legacy strengthens our commitment to America’s security.
A special message from aboard the International @Space_Station 🚀
NASA Expedition 74 astronauts @Astro_Jessica@astro_hathaway & @Astro_ChrisW congratulated teams competing at the ARC 2026 National Finals and wished them luck ahead of the competition.

AIA’s Vice President for Space Systems, Steve Jordan Tomaszewski, recently joined the Commercial Space Policy Summit in Washington, DC, hosted by the @csf_space Federation and @aiaa as part of the @ascendspace Conference.
During a panel on the space supply chain, Steve highlighted how demand for critical satellite and launch vehicle components is outpacing supply — and why government and industry must work together to strengthen the industrial base.

Today, Under Secretary William Kimmitt joined the @AIAspeaks 2026 Spring Board of Governors Meeting where he discussed ITA's work in advancing U.S. commercial interests globally in aerospace, defense, drones, and commercial space. ✈️🛰🚀
The future workforce is critical to the strength of America’s aerospace and defense industry. Programs like the American Rocketry Challenge (@LaunchWithARC) are helping inspire and prepare the next generation of engineers, innovators, and industry leaders.
It was great to welcome @NASAAdmin Jared Isaacman to the 2026 National Finals and celebrate the students, mentors, and partners driving the future of flight and space.
Industry leaders are gathering in Washington, DC, for AIA’s Spring BOG and a week of conversations focused on the future of aerospace and defense.
The week opened with networking opportunities across the city, including a morning run through DC, the AIA Golf Tournament, and a visit to Hillwood Estate & Gardens.
Thank you to @BRPH_AEC for sponsoring the golf tournament and supporting industry engagement ahead of this week’s discussions.
Last week, I spent time with some incredibly talented students at the American Rocketry Challenge Finals. Seeing their ideas, determination, and excitement for what’s possible was inspiring.
As we build toward a sustained return to the Moon through Artemis, we’re helping lay the foundation for a future this generation will help lead. Some of the students here will design the technologies, solve the hard problems, and achieve the near impossible to take humanity farther than ever before.
The future is in very good hands.
Congratulations to Matt Anderson on his confirmation as NASA Deputy Administrator. As the aerospace industry continues to drive innovation, exploration, and national security, strong leadership at @NASA is critical to advancing America’s leadership in space.
STEM education is critical to the future of the aerospace and defense workforce. Through Rockets on the Hill, American Rocketry Challenge finalists had the opportunity to showcase their work to members of Congress.
Thank you to the House Aerospace Caucus, @RTX_News, and the @northropgrumman Foundation for supporting opportunities that connect students with the future of flight and space — and thank you to @RepJasonSmith@RepJohnMcGuire@RepPatHarrigan@RepAdrianSmith@RepYoungKim for joining us today in support of the next generation of aerospace leaders.
Now it’s time for competition day — see y’all tomorrow out on the field!
