The anti Ben Gvir and Smotrich talking point is very common in the West under the theory that Israel would be embraced again if only the Israeli Right wing was sidelined. But that love would last only a few minutes, if that long.
The post October 7th reality is nearly ALL Israelis want leaders to stand strong against the threats that surround them and not make concessions that will endanger their security. Half the country may hate Bibi, but they frankly wouldn't change most of his military policies.
Naive thinking gave away Gaza and didn't see the ongoing threat of the Iranian backed militarized enemies in Israel's north and south. Going back to that place is suicidal, even if you think a few more members of Congress will then be less hostile to Israel.
Electing an Israeli Left wing government may feel good for some Americans, but it will never be enough to appease the growing hatred for Israel in the minds of college students and the media, poisoned by a decades long Qatari funded hate campaign.
I would love it if Israeli politicians were always diplomatic, but sometimes they have to be brutally honest. It may hurt our ears, but we don't suffer the same consequences that they do.
Israeli voters don't have the luxury of being wrong again about those who are determined to destroy their country and the Jews who live there. Picking olives is easy. Protecting Jews is much harder.
If we truly support the only democracy in the Middle East, we should let them elect their own government, and not pretend that these two guys are the real obstacle to peace, love and harmony.

A Jewish 17-year-old boy is about to be called up to @FCBarcelona’s senior team, and antisemites are flooding the comments with venom. They call him “a baby killer,” “a son of serial killers,” “a bloodthirsty monster,” etc.
Pure antisemitism, like that of the Middle Ages
@JYuter@ldkop@MalkahFleisher I feel like the Tzibur HaCharedi party needs a Charedi electorate to have an impact so as a non-Charedi my vote would backfire... idk
The problem with the media is that 24 hours later nobody will consider holding the Telegraph of their source for this to account for running a story which was categorically denied so quickly.
For those of you who thought the visit from a Bedford Borough Council official to investigate our daughter Zoe’s (age 12) pretend teddy bear cafe was too ridiculous to be real, here is the arrival of official. This is totally legit. She really did show up at our property to investigate the illegal teddy bears having their coffee🧸🧸☕️☕️
The discourse around sanctions on Israel is a responsible conversation to be having given the uproar from Netanyahu’s comments. People pretending that this isn’t a possibility are sticking their head in the sand. The greatest information operation in the history of the world has been unfolding for over three years. Of course the political dynamics surrounding the Middle East have changed on a global scale as a result.
Regardless of your thoughts on domestic Israeli politics or the broader region, anyone in the PM chair should be thinking about how to avoid DPRK treatment, and if not possible, how to weather that storm.
Until there is a dramatic shift in Palestinian politics, Israelis see the establishment of a Palestinian state as an existential threat. They have two governments, one of which committed October 7th and has vowed to continue more attacks in the future, and the other which refuses to adopt a policy of land for peace without a “right of return” for millions of Palestinians into Israel which would demographically destroy the country.
Same end result, different routes of getting there. There is zero trust here given previous two state solution negotiations that have been DOA at the outset or fell through. Until that change happens I expect most Israelis would prefer crippling sanctions.
I would expect the outcome of this route being a major attempt at a geopolitical realignment with a different bloc. Whether that would be possible is another story.
Of course, the West is weakened by this outcome if it comes to pass. It’s basically the end result that was pursued re: Ukraine if it was fully successful (it hasn’t been). Blame the Ukrainians for the war and cut Western support. Divide the bloc internally, and cause chaos. It’s this playbook to a tee, except it’s been working. Same model, copy and pasted.
If you ask who benefits from this everything becomes much more clear.
@TheBigKahane@JacobL1994_ My dad was proud of being Moroccan but there were no illusions about how Morocco felt about the Jews
Even the pride in the king was a combination of the propaganda and a sort of respect for the absolute ruthlessness needed to keep control in the wild west (well, north)
1985. I am in third grade in the USSR. We have a mandatory political indoctrination lesson. The lesson is on Zionist aggression, Israeli perfidy, and Soviet Jews who are susceptible to its reach. Kids turn and point fingers at me and another Jewish student.
Anti-zionism in action
