Ten years ago I was handing in my gene honours dissertation. Today my first student is handing in hers!
So proud of the effort she's put into this project and what she's achieved - even before you remember she did this during a pandemic!

Please retweet - I have a 2 year ARF position funded through my @HRCNewZealand Consolidator Grant now being advertised - the project entails exome analysis and a bit of wet-lab work for a very organised person! Closes Wed 5 Aug. @GeneticsOtago@otago https://t.co/CCNAo4eoyG
My first paper since joining the @ryanlisterlab presents a tool - schex - that can avoid overplotting in dimension reduction plots of single cell data. For example, schex allows accurate plotting of the expression of CD4 of over 6,000 cells.

Human-derived cerebral #organoids allow @silvianeurompi’s lab to explore neuronal migration during development. Marius Wernig’s @stanford lab uses iPSCs to study #autism spectrum disorders. Learn techniques for your lab at #SfNvirtual conference Sept 27 https://t.co/vazugUruEo
Very excited to have started my group at @dev_neuro and @MRC_CNDD supported by @The_MRC! The lab will be working on how extracellular matrix shapes human neocortex development 🧠 - and we're currently looking for a postdoc! Please get in touch if you're interested!
Very happy with our review on genetic correlations now out. Results from a wonderful time in Brisbane where I learned so much from @WrayNaomi at @PCTGenomics. Thanks @honglee0707, Wouter and Andrew!

Our paper on generating topographically organized human forebrain organoids is out in NBT. For full text access see https://t.co/fdh48FlvmJ. Congrats to Gustav and the whole team. For an excellent News & Views on the paper see https://t.co/1YKmpoRLV9 from @PascaStanford
Improved protocols for the visualization of immature neurons in the human #brain provide evidence for generation of neurons in the adult hippocampus and uncover reduced #neurogenesis in #Alzheimers https://t.co/LOjk610BOp @FrisenJonas@emblasteiner
Great work from the Cappello lab @silvianeurompi Congrats Silvia! Altered neuronal migratory trajectories in human cerebral organoids derived from individuals with neuronal heterotopia | Nature Medicine https://t.co/GJuutJ8lZa
Using single-cell sequencing technologies, somatic mutations in #mtDNA can be used as natural genetic #barcodes to study cellular states and clonal dynamics. https://t.co/9blARYjMH0 from the Vijay Sankaran lab @broadinstitute
Sarah Stephenson from @MCRI_for_kids just presented the coolest #scRNA plot seen this week. UMAP of neuronal nuclei from brain resections of epileptic patients. Collab with @trashystats
