Dear new followers,
Welcome! I'm very glad to meet you all.
I am a Ph.D. candidate with #ADHD. Hopefully, this explains why I sometimes have trouble with tweeting consistently.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone!
@scottplumerias I got diagnosed halfway through my Ph.D., right around the time I was about to quit. And then it all suddenly made sense: 20-page papers written in the last minute, atrocious GPA for the first half of undergrad, being told I daydream too much since I was six...

Does anyone else find themselves dreading the weekends these days? I just keep working like a maniac, because I feel too numb to actually get pleasure out of any leisure activities that are still an option..
@adhdNatasha My thoughts exactly. Also guess what, my doctor is working from home right now, so I have no idea who if anyone the pharmacist ended up talking to..
So the pharmacist just gave me a side eye and said they need to call my psychiatrist because they are “not familiar” with my doctor. That just makes me feel so great.
@blkgirllostkeys It helps when I manage to direct it at work. And it does the opposite of helping when I accidentally open Twitter too early in the day.
I'm seeing some tweets about tenure-track faculty getting an extra year on their tenure clock and that's definitely a good idea.
But! What about grad students? Are we expected to just carry on doing research? We need that extra year too. Also, a living wage.
I am ok with working from home since I already have a pretty good routine.
BUT! This routine fully depends on my meds and my psychiatrist doesn’t seem to be available at the moment.
I have about two months’ worth of meds if I ration. No idea what to do when I run out😱
@ealepping Damn, I teared up a little.
I think I have internalized this feeling so much it's going to take years of therapy to accept that it's not true.
I failed a subject that I am now teaching — and getting glowing evaluations for it too!
I think failing to understand something at first makes one a much better educator in the long run. You gain a lot more insight into different ways of approaching the subject.
In-class exams are such a strange and inefficient way of testing knowledge.
-We want to know how well the students understand X.
-I know, let’s have them recall several weeks‘ worth of material under time pressure!
What exactly are we testing here?..
I wish more people knew how affected our emotions and emotional responses are by ADHD.
Everyone will experience their ADHD differently, so feel free to cross out what applies to you!
