❝The National Education and Training for Health Policy (NETH) was developed without adequate consultation, yet it has far-reaching implications for the welfare of a critical segment of the health workforce.
As it stands, the policy risks removing basic welfare provisions for medical interns, SHOs, fellows, and other early-career health professionals who form an essential part of service delivery in our public health system.
We therefore call for;
▪️Reinstatement of medical interns, SHOs, and fellows into public service as junior officers on probation, including roles such as Junior Medical Officer, Junior Nursing Officer, Junior Pharmacist, and Junior Dental Surgeon, with full remuneration and appropriate employment terms.
▪️A pause on the current NETH policy in its present form, and the initiation of meaningful stakeholder consultation to develop a revised framework that reflects the realities, rights, and welfare needs of health workers.
A policy of this magnitude cannot be effective without the voices of those it directly affects.

Lord, as the school calendar re-opens, we pray for our children as they return to school, and give them minds that are eager to learn. Give them courage to ask good questions, confidence to take risks, and the discipline to focus and study. Give our children focus and direction as they prepare for what lies ahead in Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen! 🙏🙏
