Shaykh Ahmad Musa Jibril on generating animate beings in pictures with A.I.,

“Generating complete images of animate beings (humans or animals) through artificial intelligence constitutes an imitation of the creation of Allah and therefore takes the ruling of prohibited image-making.
This falls under the category of prohibited images because the underlying ʿillah for the prohibition of image-making is present, the imitation of Allah’s creation. As stated in the hadith qudsi found in the Ṣaḥīḥayn:
“Who is more unjust than one who attempts to create like My creation? Let them create a grain, or let them create a barley seed.”

There is no distinction between drawing by hand and generating images through artificial intelligence, whereby a person instructs a device to produce a particular image and it generates what he commands. The reasoning is that there is no essential difference between drawing with a pen and producing images through a computer, whether directly by one’s own hand or indirectly through another medium like instructing a program to do it.
Therefore:
-if the generated image depicts a complete animate being possessing the features necessary for life, it is considered prohibited;
-if the image is incomplete or lacks facial features, it is regarded as permissible.”
