50 megawatts. The first commercial fusion power purchase agreement in history.
On Moonshots #268, Peter Diamandis @PeterDiamandis details it: Helion's Orion plant is contracted to deliver 50 MW to Microsoft starting 2028. Modest next to gigawatt-class plants, but it is the first time a customer has signed to buy fusion electricity on a commercial contract.
Satya Nadella @satyanadella has been the most aggressive hyperscaler CEO on securing power for AI, from nuclear restarts to this fusion PPA. Microsoft is treating energy supply as a core AI input, not an afterthought.
For investors, the 2028 delivery date is the binary event. On-time power converts Helion from a research company into an operating utility and opens infrastructure capital that cannot hold pure science risk Peter @ 37:16.

Happy Birthday America, Land of the Free.
Don’t give up on the First, Second, Fourth, and Ninth Amendments.
They’re unique, and your freedom - and the worlds’ - depends on them.
Palantir CEO Alex Karp on what customers actually want, the real business of frontier labs, and the importance of open source models:
“What the technical customers want is control over their compute, their models, their data stack, and their alpha. They want to know they own the means of production, and it's not being transferred to someone else.”
"Who owns the data? Are the prompts secure? Is this being transferred to you?"
"If it was so valuable, and I can make you a billion dollars, wouldn't I say I'll make you a billion dollars and I want 30%? Why are they charging for tokens if it's so valuable?"
For too long, outdated rules based on old technology held back American aerospace innovation. Now, we are updating those rules for the first time since the 1970s.
Today @USDOT announced a new proposal to enable civil supersonic flight by replacing speed limits with noise limits, ushering in a new era of safer, quieter, and faster air travel for all Americans.
Thank you @SecDuffy and @FAA_Bryan for your leadership in ensuring the future of flight is invented and built in the USA.
As Oklo CEO Jake DeWitte told @MattMiller1973 on @Bloomberg News, Oklo is building the ‘full stack’ for advanced nuclear.
By investing in the full reactor lifecycle from supply chains to construction to operation, we’re learning how to make advanced nuclear deployment faster, more repeatable, and more scalable.

A key part of making pulsed fusion practical is a closed-loop fuel cycle. Helion systems recycle fuel to maximize efficiency and value across every pulse.

Two licenses and one massive milestone!
Today Helion received two licenses from the Washington State Department of Health for our Orion facility in Malaga, WA, making us the first company in the world to secure the regulatory licenses needed for a fusion power plant.
The US Dept. of Energy has approved Oklo's Preliminary Documented Safety Analysis. Their reactor will be built at Idahol National Lab, under the DoE Reactor Pilot Program. Article link in reply.
This non-commercial project will not require an NRC license. Oklo is also pursuing US Nuclear Regulatory Commission licenses for future commercial operations. Construction experience and lessons learned in the DoE project should help during the NRC licensing process.
What if the universe runs on the number 2.718 instead of 0s and 1s?
A new book by computational scientist Subhash Kak argues exactly that — and uses it to explain why "threes" show up everywhere, from physics to grammar to storytelling. 🧵
@subhash_kak@arvindneela
Fusion scales through iteration. Subsystems let us test, refine, and optimize parts of the machine without disrupting core systems like Polaris, so we learn faster and only scale what works.
That’s the Helion way! Execute rigorously, progress rapidly.

How can we accelerate the deployment of fusion energy?
@Helion_Energy CEO @Dkirtley: "About half of the cost of the power plant is in the electronics themselves."
"And so we want to be able to attack that cost, lower that cost, increase our ability to manufacture that so we can go faster."
Today, we closed our Series G at @Helion_Energy , raising $465M to build the industrial and manufacturing foundation needed to produce fusion generators at an assembly-line scale.
You can’t make scientific breakthroughs without the tools to pursue them.
Big news from @NSF: $250M to restart and supercharge the SBIR/STTR program, including a new $40M pilot for next-gen scientific instrumentation.
America’s small businesses will build the platforms that define discovery.

Sometimes you have to build smaller first to be able to build bigger later. Viable fusion energy is so important in the age of intelligence. Energy becomes almost the only bottleneck to abundance in that world of superintelligence.

On this Memorial Day, my heart feels heavy as I remember my brothers and sisters I served with who never made it home. We honor their ultimate sacrifice by standing up for the principles that unite us as Americans, defending our God-given freedoms, treating one another with aloha—respecting each other as children of God—and always striving for peace. Never forget. 🇺🇸
