Every minute matters in an emergency.
Across the West Bank, @PalestineRCS staff and volunteers are working around the clock to ensure the continuous provision of emergency medical and humanitarian services.
The recent spike in violence and increasing movement constraints have led to severe access challenges for ambulances, significantly affecting response times and impacting patients’ ability to receive care.
Rapid, safe and unhindered access for first responders and healthcare workers is critical to delivering timely, life-saving care.
Concerned by the recent increase in violence and movement constraints facing Palestine Red Crescent Society @PalestineRCS staff and volunteers across the West Bank.
The attack on a Palestine Red Crescent ambulance near Bethlehem, while its crew was responding to reports of injured people, illustrates the risks they face.
Movement restrictions, attacks and delays to ambulances are hindering first responders from reaching patients when time is critical.
Protecting humanitarian and healthcare workers is essential for the communities they serve. Rapid, safe and unhindered access must be ensured at all times for all humanitarian personnel.
The Red Cross and Red Crescent emblems are meant to protect people helping others. Under international humanitarian law, they are recognized as symbols of neutral and impartial humanitarian action. Any attack against these emblems, or against the people who wear them, is unacceptable.
The protection of humanitarian workers is not optional. It is essential to saving lives.

From strategy to action: The IFRC MENA Humanitarian Diplomacy Workshop (Doha, 28–30 Oct 2025) brought together 18 National Societies, @ifrc, @ICRC, and diplomatic actors to strengthen principled engagement and build a collaborative HD network across the region.
Co-organized by the IFRC and the @QRCS over three days, participants shared experiences, mapped capacities and shaped practical solutions to advance humanitarian diplomacy in MENA—ensuring stronger advocacy and better humanitarian outcomes for those most in need.

After more than a year of relentless effort and coordination spearheaded by the @IFRC's Global Humanitarian Services and Supply Chain unit, critical medicines arrived to #Gaza.
Through an EU Humanitarian Aid–funded programme, the IFRC, in close partnership with the
@PalestineRCS, and with support from the ICRC, is overcoming immense access challenges to deliver lifesaving supplies to families in need.
This delivery marks a vital step in ensuring that essential healthcare reaches those who need it most. A heartfelt thank you to the European Union (@eu_echo), @PalestineRCS, and @ICRC for making this possible.

That's why the @IFRC is so supportive of @AustraliaUN_GVA and @SenatorWong's Declaration on the Protection of Humanitarian Personnel.
@RedCrossAU CEO Andrew Colvin and I write in the Guardian on why the violence must stop.
"If bomb’s don’t kill us… hunger will.” – Mohammed Abu Mosabeh, Head of the Palestine Red Crescent Branch in Deir al-Balah, Gaza
We have run out of words to describe the conditions on the ground in Gaza.
Our Palestine Red Crescent Society @PalestineRCS colleagues like Mohammed are working under unimaginable conditions, struggling to feed themselves and their families as they continue risking their lives for others. The malnutrition of humanitarian workers is a protection threat to them as much as bombs are.
The recent announcement of a series of ‘humanitarian pauses’ in parts of Gaza offers a vital, though temporary, opportunity to deliver aid. But it is not enough. A sustained and protected humanitarian response is urgently needed.

Amid escalating global crises, the rise in civilian suffering & the targeting of humanitarian workers, including volunteers, is unacceptable.
One life lost is far too many.
No matter the crisis, humanitarians must be protected.
We must #ActForHumanity. #WorldHumanitarianDay
They were brave enough to put on their Red Cross and Red Crescent vests to make the world a better place in the most challenging of times.
Yet since the beginning of the year, 28 of our volunteers and staff have died or been killed while performing their humanitarian duties. In such a short time period, this is among the highest levels of global violence against National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies’ teams that we’ve ever experienced.
The @IFRC is calling for immediate and urgent action to protect humanitarian volunteers and staff around the world.
Without protection and respect we cannot reach people and perform our lifesaving work.
Together, we can #ProtectHumanity. #WorldHumanitarianDay2024
I am deeply saddened by the loss of another volunteer of Palestine Red Crescent @PalestineRCS.
Ameer Sobhi Abu Aysha, a member of the @PalestineRCS emergency operations room in Gaza was killed while on duty, working at Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis.
The @IFRC sends its deepest condolences to his family and friends and colleagues at the Palestine Red Crescent Society.
Furthermore, recent reports indicate intense shelling in the vicinity of @PalestineRCS Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Younis, endangering lives.
Since the beginning of the conflict, we lost 18 members of our network: 15 from Palestine Red Crescent and three from Magen David Adom.
Any attack on healthcare workers, ambulances, and medical facilities is unacceptable.
I cannot stress this enough: humanitarian workers must be protected.
Humanity must prevail.
Over a year after the adoption of #Resolution2664, what challenges remain for the humanitarian sector?
📍Happening Now:
IPI is co-hosting a roundtable this morning w/@irishmissionun on the topic of “Advances in and Challenges to the Implementation of UNSC Resolution 2664.”
One year ago, #UNSCR2664 provided for a cross-cutting humanitarian carve-out in all current & future UN sanctions regimes. It was a major shift, with the potential to have a positive impact for humanitarian action across the world. My take one year on:
