We see more tools enabling you to create software architecture and other diagrams as code.
The main benefit of using this concept is that 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗽𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
Another benefit driving the growing use of diagrams-as-code to create software architecture is that it enables text-based tooling, which most software developers already use.
For architecture, as code, we can use different tools, such as:
𝟭. 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗿: Create multiple diagrams from a single (C4) model. https://t.co/9GnY5MGKSw
𝟮. 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗨𝗠𝗟: It is an open-source tool that allows users to create diagrams from plain text. https://t.co/RbWHUGPFUj
𝟯. 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀: Turn Python code into cloud system architecture diagrams. https://t.co/Sd9P2YYKXa
𝟰. 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗱: Generation of diagram and flowchart from a text similar to Markdown. https://t.co/n2tLHJ4W7d
𝟱. 𝗔𝗦𝗖𝗜𝗜 𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿: Free editor for drawing ASCII diagrams. https://t.co/GGPIutJl5c
𝟲. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗺𝗮𝗽: Could you visualize your Markdown as mind maps? It supports the VS Code plugin. https://t.co/KwLpKygSen
𝟳. 𝗚𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀: Create system diagrams with Go. https://t.co/p9wt3JW0rG
𝟴. 𝗦𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺.𝗼𝗿𝗴: You can create your UML sequence diagrams online using text notation. https://t.co/7pcrQGDeBH

The way Steve Jobs became a billionaire is insane:
• Sold 99% of his Apple stock
• Lost $50 million over 9 years
• Then sold a side project to Disney for $7.4 BILLION
Here's how the genius revival of a dying tech company made Jobs a billionaire before Apple did:
How much money did we make in 2024?
Income sources revealed...
Background:
My wife and I own a holding company - Zaan WebVeda Private Limited.
It has 3 business units:
1. Brand warikoo (the content business)
2. WebVeda (the education business)
3. Investing (the company's profits)
Business Unit 1: Brand warikoo (content business)
This is our content play.
I am the face of this content - and we create content across YT, IG, LI, TW, WA, Newsletters, Podcast, Books.
Cumulative 14.8M+ followers (overlapping)
Within this business, we have multiple income streams.
Income Stream 1: Advertising
We do not run any ads on YouTube and thus do not earn any money.
This amount will range from Rs. 1-1.5Cr ($120K-180K) if we were to turn it on, for the 800M+ views we generated annually last year on YouTube.
Don't ask why we haven't turned it on lol
Income Stream 2: Affiliate Income
This is income earned when we share links to brands, through our content, and viewers end up buying something after clicking the link.
The business earns a share of the revenue generated through the link.
From Jan-Dec 2024 we earned Rs. 48.22L (USD 56K) in affiliate income.
100% of the affiliate we have earned (and will earn in the future) goes towards the education of kids who cannot afford it.
It is a simple process. Students email me, we ask for their student ID, college details, Aadhaar and a link to pay the school/college directly. And we make the transfer.
Last year, we contributed 43L towards the education of 104 kids and since existence we have contributed nearly 1.7Cr (USD $200K) towards the education of 397 kids.
Thanks to all of you :))
Income Stream 3: Public Speaking
I love public speaking and a lot of corporates invite me to their team events, all-hands, leadership offsite to address the audience and share my experiences.
We are not cheap (9L/hr) and are extremely selective, because this isn't my livelihood and I want to spend my time only where I want to.
In 2024 we earned 2.38Cr (USD 280K) in speaking fees.
It is insane that I can earn this much, for something that I love doing.
Income Stream 4: Book Royalty
I publish a book a year.
These are written for an audience that hasn't ever read, or doesn't read often. My biggest joy is receiving an email stating "this was the first book I finished".
4 books released so far and whenever they sell we earn a royalty.
In 2024, we earned 1.65Cr (~$200K) in book royalty.
Income Stream 5: Brand Collaborations & Endorsements
As a public figure with a distribution, a lot of brands reach out to us to promote their product/services.
Every brand we work with has to fulfill at least 2 of these 3 criteria:
- I have personally used them as a consumer and love the experience
- I personally know the founder/CEO from before
- The brand has been in existence for 5+ years
Because of this criteria, while we get around 300-350 queries per month we end up working with ~1-2 every month.
This income stream was meant to support WebVeda and will eventually come to near zero, atleast in terms of brands we work with.
In 2024, we earned 2.76Cr ($325K) through brand collaborations and endorsements.
Business Unit 2: WebVeda (education business)
This is where I spend 80% of my time.
WebVeda is an online school offering affordable courses with lifetime access and 100% refund, in subjects that school and college do not teach.
Time mgmt, money mgmt, communication, startup, career planning, cold emailing etc
We have 428,000+ students enrolled at an avg price point of Rs. 1,100 per student.
Growing at 6-8K students per month.
7% of our students are from outside of India.
Avg completion rate is 72%
Avg refund is 5.5%
We launch 1 course per quarter and have a total of 12 courses on the platform.
In 2024, we did Rs. 9.56Cr ($1.1M) of sales on WebVeda - which was the worst year in 3 years - for reasons known to us (and not of any worry).
Between these income streams, we earned Rs. 16.84Cr ($2Mn) as a business.
Business Unit 3: Investing
We are a profitable business (~20-25% EBITDA) and deploy the reserves of the company into various assets.
I am an aggressive investor (not recommended) and the mix of our current investments is:
1. Mutual Funds: 70L
2. PMS: 8.13Cr
3. Startup Debt: 1.62Cr
4. Startup Equity: 3.49Cr
5. Stocks India: 95L
6. Stocks US: 93L
7. Real Estate: 3.75Cr
Total: ~20Cr (USD 2.35M), which last year was around 13Cr - so an insane (and unsustainable, I should add) growth rate of 48%.
None of this investing is active. I spend less than 5 mins every month tracking or managing it - and I am happy to pay a fee to experts to manage my money for me.
Which brings me to a very important point.
A lot of us are very passive with our income.
We are living our jobs as dead people.
Showing up, burning out, earning a salary - and somehow being ok with this life.
But on the other hand, we are extremely active with our investments.
Which stock to buy, when to buy, when to sell, explore trading, dabble with FnO, join telegram stock tip groups!
What if you flipped this?
Get active with your income.
Don't just settle for a salary.
Explore ways to earn more.
Don't ever stop hustling for it.
And get passive af with your investing.
The boring SIPs.
Active with your income.
Passive with your investments.
Consider it...
IMP:
1. These numbers are revenue, not salary or money that I earn. There are a lot of expenses after this number - team salary, marketing, software.
Our profit is between 20-25% of this number.
2. The joy of running a bootstrapped business cannot be over-emphasized. At 44, this is the best way for me to grow - slow and steady.
I have an incredible team @wariCrew that I love to pamper, I am not accountable to any investors - instead to my audience and my students, I have a lot of time on hand to think and plan and I get to take long-term bets.
This very same performance for a VC-funded company would have been an absolute disaster!
3. It is intensely hard for me to share this. Not the numbers - the transparency comes easy to me and I am too self-assured to fear any judgement.
What's hard is the assumed cockiness that my mind keeps telling me, will be an outcome.
"Look at how much money I make"
"Look at how cool I am"
It is hard for me to keep this yearly disclosure objective. In the hope that I hopefully inspire you to live life differently, if you aren't happy with how you are living it so far.

Competitive Programming is fun, but why is learning math (for us engineers) so bookish, theoretical, and boring?
Today, I'm kicking off SWE Math Weekly – a fun, hands-on weekly challenge that will require you to solve a question through code and in the process understand a set of math concepts - from linear algebra, statistics, and calculus. Here's how it will work,
1. on friday, I'll post an easy or mid-level problem (cp-style)
2. solve it over the weekend, dig deeper into the math concepts
3. on wednesday, I'll share the code, some notes, and maybe even a video explaining the problem.
The problems won't just be random theoretical math exercises. I'll focus on topics that are actually and commonly used in AI, ML, and other advanced domains.
The first challenge is live now
Challenge 1 - https://t.co/1VsDDBtZFv
SWE Math Weekly - https://t.co/bqtPsT8wrj
Time to make math interesting (for us) and in the process become better engineers :) If this sounds exciting, hop along, and solve the problems. It's going to be fun, I promise!

I have designed my morning routine to be thoughtful and intentional.
It's worked for me for 7+ years now!
Evening Preparation
Family bedtime schedule:
Kids: 8:00-8:30 PM
Ruchi and me: 9:30 PM
Key principle: 7-8 hours of quality sleep is essential!
Morning Flow (4:30-9:30 AM)
4:30-5:00 AM: Gentle wake-up
Start with 15 minutes of mindful water sipping
5:00 AM: 30-minute meditation using Calm app. Have not missed a single day for 4.5 years now!
5:30 AM: 30 minutes of peaceful Kindle reading
6:00 AM: Quick phone check (5 mins max!)
WhatsApp messages only
Emails are paused until 8 AM
Minimal or no social media engagement
6:10 AM: Kids' wake-up time
Gentle back rubs; we call it fush, in kashmiri :))
Help kids prepare for school
6:30 AM: Leave for tennis; while Ruchi comes back from Tennis and drops kids to bus stop.
7:30 AM: Gym session with trainer
45-50 minutes of varied workouts
8:30 AM: Newspaper reading
9:00 AM: Shower and get ready
9:15 AM: Protein Shake + supplement
9:30 AM: Ready to engage with the world!
I started on this routine 7 years ago and never looked:
1/ Sustained energy throughout the day
2/ Increased mental presence
3/ Prioritizes what matters the most to me
Friendly Reminders:
1/ It is a misconception that a morning routine needs to start early.
The important thing is that it starts the same time everyday. Irrespective of when it starts.
2/ While this exact routine might not work for everyone, having A routine is valuable.
If you set your mind and body to a rhythm, it will respect you.
3/ Avoid checking your phone first thing in the morning - it puts others' priorities before your own.
Whatever time you wake up, BEFORE you attend to the world, attend to yourself.
Back when I started in tech in India, grinding late hours was worn like a badge of honor.
- I had a manager who wouldn’t leave to home before 10:00 PM and always come to office at 9:00 AM sharp 🙂
- last min prod deployment on the name of client is god.
- even my team members slept in accenture offices in Gurgaon
- in India we’re so many people in tech hence so tough competition if you don’t do it — there are 10,000 people in line so most of us don’t have choice.
Hustle culture was so ingrained that I barely questioned it — sacrificing personal time and family moments without a second thought.
No one told me it wasn’t sustainable; I just accepted it as the price of “dedication.”
Then I moved to Sweden, and it’s a whole new world.
Here, people simply drop a Slack message to adjust their hours, and no one doubts their commitment.
There’s mutual trust, a respect for boundaries, and an understanding that a balanced life leads to better work.
It’s the kind of balance I never thought I could ask for.
Now, Gen Z in India is flipping the script.
They’re setting boundaries, pushing back on toxic expectations, and actually daring to value their own time.
Sure, it can come off as bold — even a little too relaxed. But maybe they’re on to something. By demanding healthier work dynamics, they might just be the ones to finally fix India’s relentless hustle.

Good engineers are never scared to compete.
Most good engineers I met were highly competitive but in a good way. When they saw a better code, they absorbed it and used the pattern the next time in their code. When they heard someone talking about an interesting algorithm, they looked that up to understand it in detail.
Most people consider it jealousy, but this is a fuel that helps them get better than others. In most cases, they needed worthy opponents who pushed themselves beyond their limits and ensured that they not just met the bar but raised it entirely.
I have been fortunate to have some of them as my direct reports, and I had to ensure that they understand that competitive spirit is not about tearing down others, instead, it is about pushing yourself above them.
So, next time you see someone doing better than you, writing better code, learning something interesting, or working hard, take it as an external push to become better than them.
Make competition your constant drive to be better.
Also, remember a → b ≠ ~a → ~b
⚡ I keep writing and sharing my practical experience and learnings every day, so if you resonate then follow along. I keep it no fluff.

Nvidia CEO: Greatness does not come out of intelligence, it comes from character.
Character is not formed out of smart people: it is formed out of people who have suffered.
i just posted this note to openai:
Hi All–
Mira has been instrumental to OpenAI’s progress and growth the last 6.5 years; she has been a hugely significant factor in our development from an unknown research lab to an important company.
When Mira informed me this morning that she was leaving, I was saddened but of course support her decision. For the past year, she has been building out a strong bench of leaders that will continue our progress.
I also want to share that Bob and Barret have decided to depart OpenAI. Mira, Bob, and Barret made these decisions independently of each other and amicably, but the timing of Mira’s decision was such that it made sense to now do this all at once, so that we can work together for a smooth handover to the next generation of leadership.
I am extremely grateful to all of them for their contributions.
Being a leader at OpenAI is all-consuming. On one hand it’s a privilege to build AGI and be the fastest-growing company that gets to put our advanced research in the hands of hundreds of millions of people. On the other hand it’s relentless to lead a team through it—and they have gone above and beyond the call of duty for the company.
Mark is going to be our new SVP of Research and will now lead the research org in partnership with Jakub as Chief Scientist. This has been our long-term succession plan for Bob someday; although it’s happening sooner than we thought, I couldn’t be more excited that Mark is stepping into the role. Mark obviously has deep technical expertise, but he has also learned how to be a leader and manager in a very impressive way over the past few years.
Josh Achiam is going to take on a new role as Head of Mission Alignment, working across the company to ensure that we get all pieces (and culture) right to be in a place to succeed at the mission.
Kevin and Srinivas will continue to lead the Applied team.
Matt Knight will be our Chief Information Security Officer having already served in this capacity for a long time. This has been our plan for quite some time.
Mark, Jakub, Kevin, Srinivas, Matt, and Josh will report to me. I have over the past year or so spent most of my time on the non-technical parts of our organization; I am now looking forward to spending most of my time on the technical and product parts of the company.
...
Leadership changes are a natural part of companies, especially companies that grow so quickly and are so demanding. I obviously won’t pretend it’s natural for this one to be so abrupt, but we are not a normal company, and I think the reasons Mira explained to me (there is never a good time, anything not abrupt would have leaked, and she wanted to do this while OpenAI was in an upswing) make sense. We can both talk about this more tomorrow during all-hands.
Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication.
Sam
