Very pleased to share the results of this study commissioned by @PolicyREGI Committee of the @Europarl_EN

Wildland firefighters are increasingly being called to fight wildfires in urban environments. @AnotherFireGuy Lindon Pronto challenges our current approaches to fighting fires in Wildfire Magazine Special Edition: #LAFires#wildfire https://t.co/IMgYBIOo0t
Back home after a great time delivering training & spreading the word on Wildland Firefighting. For the 2nd year, @PauCostaF supports the #ProIZS Czech Wildfires Academy, helping firefighters adapt to the evolving fire-climatic reality. 150 firefighters from 🇨🇿 & 🇸🇰 took part.
With my colleague @AnotherFireGuy, already participating in the #CzechWildfireAcademy for the second time.
We are delivering the extensive course on fire behavior. Soon getting ready to welcome the participants at our stations. #handsOn@PauCostaF#ProIZS
German authorities must stop their crackdown on speech and protests and the discriminatory restriction of freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.

In addition to all the great contributions swirling about, here is something that I have not seen much discussion on:
Wildfires in cities: An operational gray zone https://t.co/muFbCyQ0Ig
It’s the jurisdiction of urban fire departments – but we rely on wildland firefighters to get the job done. While we don’t expect a smokejumper to run into a burning building, we do expect urban fire departments to effectively tackle the most complex and extreme wildfires.

Ring camera footage of the Eaton Fire as it ravaged entire neighborhoods. This gives you a good view of how easily and rapidly the fire spread. Embers travel far out from the main fire, causing exponential spread.

Does @KimKardashian also want higher pay for #federal#wildland#firefighters like for #hotshot crews currently preventing #fires from reaching the next neighborhood while making a little as $13/hr?! Maybe a story on this & the 40% firefighter pay cut in March? @latimes #LosAngelesFire
🔥@dwnews spoke to our wildfire expert Lindon Pronto, who began his career as a Wildland Firefighter in California, on why the fires have been so devastating and so hard to stop.

As it may, but don’t overlook essential federal employees like #wildland #firefighters under @fo@forestservice, @BureauIndAffrs@USFWS@US_NPS, @BLMFire and @DeptofDefense who show up even when others are furloughed and they don’t get paid. They also often work 112hrs per week to protect communities etc.
Israel is literally wiping out apartment buildings in Beirut tonight.
Let that sink in—residential buildings full of Lebanese families.
In what universe is this considered “self-defense”?
🇮🇱🇱🇧 IDF bulldozing Qassam Soleimani park in Maron al-Ras, Southern Lebanon
As in Gaza, the IDF is bulldozing things without strategic value, but just to destroy the existing infrastructure, or monuments or just for symbolic value.
How many lives we could have saved. How many lives we can still save.
