@emilypine8#F22POPMUS I somewhat agree because while I do believe that listening to a recording on an artist is going to be a much better quality then a live band doing a cover, listening to live music can bring people together in a way streaming can’t
@munlsj283#F22POPMUS I agree with this because the artist that recording the song is signed to a label for a reason. The quality of the sound in the recording will also be much better because they have better access to technology that helps them make their music.
#F22POPMUS I somewhat agree with Wald’s assessment in the way that I think many people would rather listen to their favourite artists then a cover of that song. Although I do believe that listening to music live is a very unique experience that is still very much enjoyed.
@AmberWalbourne@MeganChippett04 I completely agree with the fact that it is a form of cultural theft and proper credit should be given to an artist. I do think that some positive qualities can be taken from it if you disregard the fact it is somewhat stolen. #F22POPMUS
@RyanH0bbs#F22POPMUS I AGREE WITH THIS BECAUSE WHEN “SCHLOCK” MUSIC IS PRODUCED, IT TAKES QUALITIES FROM THE MUSIC OF OTHER CULTURES WITHOUT GIVING PROPER CREDIT. ALTHOUGH I DO BELIEVE THAT SOME GOOD CAN BE TAKEN FROM IT EVEN THOUGH THE WAY IT IS MADE IS NOT GOOD
#F22POPMUS I think that Schlock music is a form of cultural theft because a lot of the qualities are stolen from other cultures music. While I don’t think this is good, there can still be some good qualities take away from it and I don’t think it should be dismissed entirely.
@MaryamCT1 I agree that wearing AirPods in social situations can be very distracting because it is difficult to listen to what people around you are saying. Although I do think that they are a huge convenience and if used in proper situations can be very enjoyable #F22POPMUS
@EmilyKathleenB1@megan_savoury I completely agree that they do have an expensive look to them. Although they do make listening to music much easier to access outside of your house. Individuals have to decide whether the convenience is worth the cost #F22POPMUS
I think that new technology such as AirPods can be seen as a “Status Symbol” when wearing them. They change the way that we listen to music because now we have constant access to streaming services such as Spotify and are not limited to where we listen to our music #F22POPMUS
@kdsdearing#F22POPMUS I very much agree with the fact that he uses his breaking voice to make certain lyrics in the song stand out. This technique was used by Ray Charles to highlight certain lines in the song and make the listener really feel the emotional weight behind them.
@SheilaLoshi#F22POPMUS I agree with this because I believe that the use of a breaking voice does add another “layer” to his music and works alongside the lyrics of the song to deliver a more complete experience when listening.
#F22POPMUS Ray Charles uses a breaking voice in many of his songs because this made it much easier to understand the emotion through his voice, even if you couldn’t understand the emotion through the lyrics. This made it easier for many more people to connect to his songs.
A lot of the music that I listen to is old as in 70s 80s and 90s rock like Pink Floyd and Lynyrd Skynyrd. But I also listen to rap and R&B such as Kanye west, Mac Miller and Childish Gambino. I will pretty much listen to anything because all genres can have good music #F22POPMUS
@toaststoat I agree that popular music now does paint a picture that you need all of these fancy cars and jewellery to be happy. With this being so oversaturated in todays music scene, this message is much more widespread then it was in the past.
@HannahS99330463 I somewhat agree with you in the way that not all popular music is “dumbed down”, a lot of thought is put into some of it. Although I do believe that much of the popular music we see nowadays is very repetitive. Most pop songs we hear on the radio now are very generic and bland.
I think that a lot of popular music is designed to be “dumbed down” to be enjoyed by the masses. Although, I do believe that some popular music has a lot of thought behind it and can be enjoyed by those seeking more out of their music listening experience. #F22POPMUS
