@Benmwilliams03 Concerts are very popular among younger people, and after the COVID-19 lockdown and not being able to see live music for two years, people are more eager to attended concerts than ever. Since then, so much music has been released that people have yet to see live. #F22POPMUS
@LaishaAdhikari I agree with this. As someone who enjoys attending concerts, live music is just a whole other feeling. You get to experience things from the artist you wouldn't see or feel just listening to their recorded music. It also makes you feel more connected to the artist. #F22POPMUS
I don't agree with Wald's statement. Concerts not only create a platform for fans to hear the pure emotion of their favourite songs, but it creates an intimate and special connection between the artist and the fans. Live music allows you to see the artists creativeness #F22POPMUS
@Jmdking45 I definitely agree with this. Even though other artists are able to cover songs and add their own style to it in respect to the art or what appeals to their audience, it is still discrediting the original artists and how they intended the music to be made. #F22POPMUS
@zoemcdonald01 Hi Zoe, I agree with what you are saying here. The music community is growing, therefore people within the music industry are learning about the history of these artists and the origins of their songs. This way, their music can be appreciated and credited. #F22POPMUS
Schlock is considered inferior versions of a song, which is seen as cultural theft. White middle-class stole songs from other artists and claimed it as their own song. I don't think cultural theft is as bad. Many artists perform covers, but won't claim it as their own.#F22POPMUS
@Jmdking45 I agree this makes his voice unique and displays how much passion he has for music. We are starting to see breaking voice used in different genres today not just in blues. We are seeing artists such as Beyonce, Rihanna, and Christina Aguilera use this technique #F22POPMUS
@HannahS99330463 Hi Hannah, I definitely agree with what you're saying. Lyrics and emotion in singing can be portrayed as two different things. You can relate to lyrics and feel a different emotion than the singer, but you also don't need to understand the lyrics to feel the emotion. #F22POPMUS
Ray Charles using his breaking voice is a style of singing he chose to use to portray the intensity of the lyrics and his passion. A breaking voice is used to emphasis certain song lyrics or even the overall theme of a song. This is seen in his song "I've got a woman". #F22POPMUS
@sreid71 This is very true. Not only can people discover music which helps them explore more about their personal identity, but people are able to connect over certain albums, artists genres, and even learn and bond over different cultures. #F22POPMUS
@taylorbartlett0 I definitely agree that new streaming products such as iPhones or AirPods have made it harder to enjoy easy access to music when most people are focused on who has the the newest product and who doesn't. It's not all about the music anymore but more on social status #F22POPMUS
@jenniferrose02 I remember when I used to burn all of my favourite songs onto CDs. Years later I used to export these songs onto my MP3 player, which was a little more convenient than playing CDs. But now, all I have to do is search up the song I'm looking for and press play #F22POPMUS
Streaming services like Apple Music has impacted the way I listen to music because now I have every artist, every genre, every song available at my fingertips, compacted onto one device. With access to all this music, I'm able to connect with myself through many genres #F22POPMUS
@jjackb02 A lot of pop music has definitely become bland since they're all so similar with the same beat/sound just different lyrics. In that sense, music has "dumbed down" a bit. Not all music within the pop genre fit in this category though. #F22POPMUS
@KarlieSquires I agree that there are many different types and styles of music, and that it all holds meaning. Even if songs don't have the deepest or most significant lyrics, the music represents something meaningful to the artist, and is also meaningful to the listeners/fans. #F22POPMUS
There's definitely many "false needs" created by the music industry. Artists try to romanticize their career by focusing on luxury and wealth they have. I don't think music has "dumbed down". I've heard some of the most meaningful lyrics from songs in this generation. #F22POPMUS
