@leahkennedy111 I totally agree. With music being so accessible, listening live (IMO) has no comparison than listening to edited and recorded songs. #F22POPMUS
@_Adam_Keating_ I agree with you 100%. Being in the presence of the performer and seeing a passion for the music is a totally different experience than listening to an edited recording. #F22POPMUS
I think that if given the opportunity, most people would enjoy listening to their favourite songs live. Music is at our fingertips now, making concerts in the presence of an artist more of a unique, uncommon experience. Hearing an unedited performance changes impact. #F22POPMUS
@kdsdearing very true! I enjoy listening to covers of all types of music, but credit is due when covering! I think artists can take others songs and perform them in their own way and it still remain amazing, as long as they are not mocking and consent and credit is given! #F22POPMUS
Cultural theft produced by white teens is “schlock” not only because the music has been reproduced, and claimed as their own, but they have no connection to cultures of original artists. Music made in this manner shouldn’t be valued and lessons of consent should. #F22POPMUS
@munlsj283 I agree, reproducing music in this manner especiallly is cultural theft. Inspiration could certainly be drawn from other artists but appropriate credit /consent and cultural appropriation is necessary#F22POPMUS
Ray Charles uses a “breaking voice” in his music to express emotion. It signifies individualism and expresses his own personal feelings. Many blues songs use these common techniques to have an emotional connection with listeners. #F22POPMUS
@EmilyBi29285503#F22POPMUS I agree with your ideas! The “breaking voice” that Ray charles uses really expresses the emotional factor to his music. His feelings he sings about are demonstrated using this technique.
@jjackb02#F22POPMUS I agree with your response. I think the emotional factor through his music allowed listeners to feel the emotions he expressed by using the “breaking voice”, and can provide listeners a chance to have an emotional connection to his music.
@ErinWay14#F22POPMUS I agree! Having to download and import songs onto an MP3 or only being able to buy select songs since each one had to be bought individually seems so unusual from streaming services now. They are acessable to everyone and most people use them, regardless of class.
@melissa66448463 I totally agree with your statement. Our younger generations are so easily persuaded by latest trends and often want what’s seen on tiktok or what their peers have. Many times when we don’t have these items we feel “uncool” #F22POPMUS
Only 10 years ago, select songs would have to be imported to an MP3 or music would be accessed from the radio. Now, any song can be streamed in a few clicks. Many generations now buy iphones (etc) not only for streaming convenience, but for popularity and social status #F22POPMUS
@andrealeigh_07 I agree with your statement. The music created today is not original or contain meaningful messages. The false need is being seen though similar-sounding songs, as well as being spread through media, that we see through trends #F22POPMUS
@jjackb02 I agree with your opinions that popular music has created false needs. People are following the latest trends and begin to lose originality. Most pop songs today have the same beats or background noises, making them sound similar. Again, the originality can get lost.#F22POPMUS
Music and media industries are creating unrealistic standards that everyone tries to keep up on. I believe artists try to be original but there is repetition and “inspiration” for the same types of songs. Much of what we see/ hear today is repeated. #F22POPMUS
