@Lisa_mus2011 @_Adam_Keating_ That’s an interesting point. If we look at the DJ as a ‘cover’ band, then I think would prefer to go to a live DJ remix of my favourite artist #F22POPMUS
@mhmcphee I agree that a live concert would be more fun, but I wouldn't want to see a cover band. It would have to be the original artist, maybe it's just me but I find cover bands annoying. I'd rather listen to the artists record. #F22POPMUS
Wald’s assessment is true today, young people would prefer an artist record to a cover band. In most cases, the artist sounds much better as there are hours spent perfecting the song. People are disappointed when a live doesn't sound the same as what they're used too #F22POPMUS
@Jaylumii@SheilaLoshi You’re right, the music was much more beautiful in its original form. When comparing the original music to the schlock, it’s hard to imagine the schlock sold more copies! #F22POPMUS
@zoemcdonald01 It is important we do give credit where it belongs. Schlock music is a reminder of the racism that took place and something we should not forget. #F22POPMUS
I think the only value we get from “schlock” music is the historical value. We can certainly learn from past mistakes there. I believe the authors referred to it as “schlock” because the artists were white and were guilty of cultural theft. #F22POPMUS
@skryanmun@sreid71 Yes, it would definitely feel out of place if he were to use smooth vocals, we can feel his emotions with the breaking voice. #F22POPMUS
#f22POPMUS I think Ray Charles used a breaking voice in “I’ve got a woman”to express his emotion and passion. It also makes him commanding and masculine
@Lisa_mus2011 @skryanmun This is true Lisa, however, I don’t own my iPhone to stream music, I don’t pay for the internet or data to stream music, I can stream on Spotify for free, so I do consider streaming music to be much more affordable than buying a CD player & CDs at $20 for 1 artist. #F22POPMUS
@WangKe1234567 I agree, new technology has completely changed how and who we listen too. With social media, we’re able to easily find independent artists. Right now I’m waiting for the release of a song to Apple Music by an independent artist I found on TikTok! #F22POPMUS
#F22POPMUS Many years ago I would take the bus to work & listen to my portable CD player. It was frustrating, skipping all the time, having to change CDs, then came the iPod! This allowed me to access all my current music, ebooks & download so much more, plus I looked so cool!
@AidanSm54092875 This is so true. Demi Lovato is in the media again saying this is her last tour. Her songs “Anyone” and “sober” break my heart. I believe she is another singer who has fallen victim the “dumb-downed poplar culture industry” #F22POPMUS
@RyanH0bbs I agree Ryan, when I put on music to help me clean the kitchen, I’m not looking for a meaningful song. I need something to get me moving 😆 #F22POPMUS
#f22popmus In Pinks lyrics “don’t let me get me” it says “tired of being compared to damn Britney Spears” Pink talked openly of producers trying to make her fit “popular culture”, which I believe is a dumbed-down form of music creating a false need to be popular, rich&beautiful.
