How have export restrictions and domestic allocation requirements affected the recovery of critical minerals from scrap and strategic recyclable feedstocks? Join SAFE's Center for Critical Minerals Strategy next Wednesday, October 28 for a webinar launching its upcoming issue brief, “Retain, Recycle, Secure: The Role and Limits of Export Restrictions.”

Discussions will focus on battery black mass, tungsten waste and scrap, copper-bearing scrap, and rare earth magnet materials, and how restrictions on exports may support or disrupt collection markets, established recycling networks, and supply chains with allies and partners.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s #SAFESummit2026. Over two days, we tackled a wide spectrum of challenges—from energy and critical minerals to supply chains, infrastructure, and industrial capacity.

One theme was clear: the systems underpinning our energy security are being fundamentally redefined.

[SAFE @Securing_Energy]

Workforce as a supply chain in its own right.

SAFE's CEO @Averyaash and @Jpmorgan's Jay Horine explore the Security and Resiliency Initiative—a $1.5 trillion, decade-long effort to finance and strengthen industries vital to economic security—and the central role a highly skilled workforce plays in making that vision a reality.

In October 2025, J.P. Morgan announced one of the most consequential private sector commitments to American industrial resilience in a generation: the Security and Resiliency Initiative, a $1.5 trillion, 10-year plan to facilitate, finance, and directly invest in industries critical to U.S. national economic security.

On Day 2 of the SAFE Summit, our CEO @averyaash is sitting down with Jay Horine to hear why J.P. Morgan made this commitment, how this fund builds on policy action, and what it will take for the broader commercial banking community to follow suit.

The data center buildout has allowed Loudoun County to lower property tax rates by 38% since 2010, translating to average savings of about $3,400 per year for homeowners.

“We’ve seen this strategy backfire in Europe and elsewhere—it would have potentially catastrophic impacts on our automotive industry, have ripple effects on our entire defense industrial base, and make every American less secure.

We urge the President to stay tough against China and protect American auto manufacturers and workers.” - @averyaash, SAFE’s CEO

[Leslie Hayward @leslietron]

"For us, it always comes back to the overlap of our commercial and our defense needs. ... It’s about civil-military fusion, but in an authentically American way."

⛏️Failing to address the US’s processing chokepoint will cede further mineral dominance to China, leaving us reliant on an adversarial nation for our critical minerals.

🗓️Today, SAFE’s Abigail Hunter testifies at the House E&C hearing on critical mineral supply chains to urge calibrated and timely action from policymakers.

[Congresswoman Jen Kiggans @RepJenKiggans]

Today, 12 of my Republican colleagues and I issued a joint statement in response to the Ways and Means Committee’s portion of reconciliation concerning clean energy tax credits. We ask House Leadership to consider 3 thoughtful changes as we move forward.

Full statement here:

[John Arnold @johnarnold]

Some Republicans are asking whether to wait until 2025 with a trifecta to do energy permitting reform. But not only is a materially different bill not possible in the 119th Congress due to the political process and landscape, it's dangerous to delay it.

- Hyperscalers are looking to site their largest, most important data centers overseas because they can't get the power and gas they need in the US
- Consumers are seeing rising retail prices because it's too hard and takes too long to build energy infrastructure
- RTOs and ISOs are all facing difficulty keeping reliability of the system given the growth in demand
- Energy companies of all types are cancelling projects because of difficulty of permits

The next Congress has many issues of higher priority to deal with. Even if/when it gets to it, the bill cannot go through reconciliation. It will need at least 7 Dem votes in the Senate. There is no chance a bill as imagined by certain conservative groups would get that. The issue would be stuck and the industry, and consumers, would be waiting years.

Wild story. DC Police are asking a reporter to reveal sources on a story about how 911 is broken and mistakes may have led to an infant fatality. #FixDC911

More than a dozen House Republicans wrote to Speaker Mike Johnson asking him NOT to axe clean energy tax credits in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) if the GOP maintains or expands its House majority next year.

How can we expect to have a successful #SafeSystems and #VisionZero plan by @MurielBowser and @DDOTDC when we accept drivers flaunting foundational laws with impunity and removing the ability for accountability? DC has a major problem and it gets worse when the city won’t act
