When it’s Sunday, it’s raining and it’s Ice cream for breakfast day. The special has tobe. Warm waffles and ice cream with a mixed berry sauce. Topped with a drizzle of honey for our @BeNCHProjectNHS residents. #foodbooster#foodfirst#icecreamforbreakfastday
Sent an extra snack trolley round today focused on hydration, big bowl of fresh melon and milk shakes, also another great way to offer boosted milk for the residents that need it #BeNCHprojectNHS#hydration
They say preparation is key. Each morning we start by making up boosted milk bottles for our @BeNCHProjectNHS residents. Milk powder is add to a pint of milk for each resident almost doubling its calories and protein This is then used in teas, coffee’s and any milk based cooking.
Yesterday we ran our first virtual training session of 2022 on the topic of “Malnutrition and Food First”! Lots of great discussion and learning between Care Homes in NW Surrey. If you’d like to attend and work in a NW Surrey CH, visit https://t.co/N6LY8cX796
The MUST Tool (Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool) calculates an adults risk of malnutrition in 5 simple steps. This is the starting point for supporting someone who is malnourished or at risk of malnutrition. For more information see https://t.co/HeIFRcOjFn
So what is the BeNCH Project? Training for Care Home staff to make sure that EVERY care home resident in NW Surrey gets the best nutritional care they can! Optimise and Standardise - that’s the goal. #BeNCHProjectNHS@BDA_Dietitians@BDA_olderpeople
What a great way to boost a yoghurt! Just take a full fat yoghurt and add 1tbsp double cream and 1 heaped tbsp skimmed milk powder and add not only calories but protein too! Great work Rachel! @LondonBDA#BeNCHProjectNHS
Why have I never tried a rocky road mousse? This sounds incredible! Such a great way to increase calories and protein for residents at risk of malnutrition!
So pudding today we enjoyed Rocky road mousse’s. The ones in the silver bowls are for our @BeNCHProjectNHS care plan residents, made using their boosted milk and added cream. Not inc the decoration and topped with digestive crumb and marshmallows 😋 #BeNCHprojectNHS#foodfirst
Today lunch was a lemon baked bass fillet on garlic & butter roast potatoes with green beans or a chilli jacket potato. Our BeNCH project residents enjoyed extra cheese on their potatoes & extra butter on their fish dish. As well as BOOSTED custard on their pear & ginger cake.
