This is a great article. We rely on ISPs to transfer our information without any interruption. If we go back to the 2015 rules, what do we do when ISPs innovate new ways to get around the rules? #NetNeutrality
In honor of the GOP reps pulling at straws to pitch their loophole-ridden fake #NetNeutrality rules, here’s my piece on why we can’t settle for anything less than full restoration (aka #TitleII): https://t.co/0VK5I1pS4T
@makail_j @HeidiAguayo5 I think it would be beneficial for everyone to learn about addictions, how they work and be able to notice that social media could be your addiction. We need to be teaching people how to use social media. #COMM3120
@KatyStrikwerda @kasslikesdal Do you think that these mental illnesses will become controllable or more controllable without social media? Some share it and some don’t. I think more are affected negatively than we know. #COMM3120
@kokowood1 @alexissmeier I think connecting is conversation. I can connect with people in a grocery store line as we talk about apples if we so please. There are support groups you can connect in or even a romantic partner you can connect with on social media. #COMM3120
Social media creates a platform for “connections”, not real friends. Individuals compare and contrast lives. Yet it also creates opportunity to connect with what is happening in today’s world and with those you may never have a chance to connect with. I am a realist #COMM3120
@kylee_parke@HeidiAguayo5 I think it is human nature ESPECIALLY in teens as they are still developing and things like status matter more, but is it necessary to have social media as a teen? For some, yes because of our culture we have created. What if we all had flip phones? #COMM3120
@zachwatts19@DeuelPaige However, I do know that many people with social anxiety feel they have better friends online than they do in person because of the anxiety. #COMM3120
@zachwatts19@DeuelPaige I agree with that. Lasting friendships take more effort and connection outside of social media. I feel like social media connections are just very superficial. #COMM3120
@kylie_rowley For me I think a real friend is someone I connect regularly with outside of Instagram, Facebook or Twitter. I consider my friends the ones I don’t need social media in order to keep up with their lives.

@DeuelPaige That is a good point. The word “friend” can mean different things to different people, but I do think friendships can be made, but hard to sustain just through social media. Many of my social media “friends” are those I know personally. #COMM3120
