“This project gave us a new opportunity to live better lives. Land that was once unproductive is now home to coffee and tea plantations, and challenges that once felt impossible have become solutions. Families that used to relocate because of disasters are now living safely, raising livestock, drinking milk, and thriving with dignity.”
Opening remarks by Mayor of @GicumbiDistrict Emmanuel Nzabonimpa.
Today, @MDFC_Rwanda joined @AfricaHealthCol and @alueducation at #HealthX2026 an inspiring platform bringing together leading organizations, innovators, and young professionals shaping the future of healthcare.

"The Green Gicumbi Project has officially concluded its activities today. However, let us all remember that while the project may be ending, its achievements remain and will continue to benefit the community."
Hon Minister of Environment, @Dr_Arakwiye.
“These homes are yours, and they must continue to care for you and serve as an example to others. A good home is reflected not only in its structure, but also in cleanliness, dignity, and safety for the families living in it.
Beyond infrastructure, this project has transformed mindsets, children are going to school, malnutrition is decreasing, and harmful behaviors such as alcoholism are being left behind. Positive change should not end with the project; it must continue growing and inspire others in the community.
@GreenGicumbi leaves behind valuable lessons that we, as a country, will continue to build on so that this impact can reach even more communities.”
— @Dominiquehab Minister of Local Government
