Just a warning about British jobs like this— £27k per annum pre tax is not London living wage. And it’s not enough to make any UK visa minimum. You can’t live off this no matter how fun it sounds, and since it’s full time, that basically means it has to go to someone wealthy.

For those who are interested: the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2023 has been been laid in draft before Parliament, with a commencement date of 1 April 2024. The Amendment removes the exemption contained in reg 57(3) aka 'the family worker exemption'.

If you work for someone you're entitled a wage, which should at least be the minimum wage.
Employer provided housing is not calculated by IMAGINING how much you could get for the room and claiming it counts as a wage.

@floschechter This is literally an au pair ad where they admit they don't want to pay a wage.

Parents who behave like this often don't see themselves as explorative but they absolutely are.

Au pairs struggle to get paid enough as it is already.
