Pretty unreal per Grok:
Scottie Scheffler's handicap index for the 2025 PGA Tour season, calculated using all 76 tournament rounds and the corresponding course ratings and slopes, would be +8.0.
This is derived from the best 8 score differentials from his most recent 20 rounds, averaged and multiplied by 0.96, per USGA handicap rules. The differentials account for his exceptional scoring relative to the championship-level course setups.
Dyker Beach Club (Par 71, 6,438 yards; 71/122)
Shot an 87 - 38 in 49 out. 2 over front was great could not have asked for a better start. Completely feel apart of back.
Driver / Tee shots (5/10):
Only 29% of fairways hit despite mainly hitting 4 irons off the tee. Did not feel like I got off the tee that well today. Alignment just felt off and was hitting a draw instead of normal cut. Drivers I did hit were pretty nice. Hit drive 3 times - 1 did force me to take a drop but other two were long and straight. 18 was frustrating as I piped a drive through the fairway on a dog-leg right, ended up behind a tree. Knew it wasn’t a driver hole but might as well go for it when your back 9 isn’t going your way.
Iron play (5/10)
Hit 39% GIR but didn’t feel like I struck the ball all that well. Back 9 - disaster of ball striking. Front 9 was pretty good.
Chipping (6/10)
Was OK. Lots to still clean up. Need to hit my landing zone more consistently and with a more consistent strike. Sand game was very good 2/2 out of the sand 1/2 on sand saves
Putter (4/10)
Front 9 was fine, back 9 was terrible rolled 38 putts. Need to get lags closer. Also need to make sure to be on right shelf from the start - too many times was putting from wrong area
Overall was super happy with how I played the front +2 through 9 might be the best round I have played (at least for several years.) Felt stress free and confident - really glided through it
Back 9 was just horrible, hit everything fat, lots of careless mistakes and wasn’t making putts. Back 9 has been a weakness of my game so far and I think it could be helped via eating / staying hydrated on the course. I honestly felt a bit cloudy on the back and a tad bit more tired (was walking and carrying bag.) Was not necessarily focused on score but probably did impact a bit.
As always with golf - more work to do!
La Tourette Golf Course Par 72 (70.6/122; 6,338 yards)
Shot 89 with 34 putts, 60% fairways hit but only 17% greens in regulation.
No drivers today - only hit 4 iron off the tee averaging 215 - 225 yards. Relatively accurate but striking was a tad inconsistent - didn’t hurt me today.
Planning on hitting a range session this week so hopefully will be able to work my driver out. (7/10)
Iron play was OK but was really unable to hit greens in regulation. Hard to pin on my iron play. Really needed a slight bit more length of tee, had a lot of 185 - 215 yard second shots which is difficult in general to hit greens from. Leaves were manageable and generally handy around the green, was typically satisfied with my approach shots. (8/10)
Chipping was also OK. Was able to get some close for some 1-putt par saves - need to work on consistency but will come with time. Did duff one on 15 which as always is annoying. (8/10)
Putting was not great. Didn’t really roll the ball well and again was leaving a lot of putts short. 2 back-to-back three putts on 14/15 was an annoyance. 34 putts is much better than yesterday but would attribute that more to better scrambling rather than better putting (8/10 scoring; 6/10 stroke)
Course management was good again. Really focusing on playing boring golf and being patient - not trying to be a hero with any shots. Do need to work on maintaining focus through all 18. I seem to slump around 13-16 consistently which has hurt my scoring on last couple rounds.
Practice for me will be:
1. Putting
2. Chipping
3. Driver
If anyone has any good practice facility recommendations near or in New York City (ideally outdoor range + chipping green) - please let me know.
Shot 87 with 38 putts. Tips 6,400 yards (par 71, 70.5/122.)
Driver is definitely a weakness in the bag - cutting way too much and inconsistent strikes - most definitely need a range session or a lesson (2/10.) Hitting 4 iron off the tee 220-240 so was able to place the ball well - hit 50% of fairways and ones that I missed were first cut / light rough. Hit 3 drives - none good, will have to adjust to the no range balls / warm up before rounds.
Iron play was OK but was striking ball much better last week (7/10.) Lots of wind today so was a bit tougher to dial in yardage. Hit 39% of greens in regulation. The ones I did miss were generally on the fringe so were easy up and down / manageable leaves.
Chipping was decent (7/10.) Duffed a chip on 10 that lead to a double - complete deceleration into impact as I was worried about going long given pin placement on the greens shelf. Did hit 1 very nice 60 degree flop on 17. Was 15 ft below the pin short sided in rough - hit to about 10ft on correct shelf.
Really couldn’t buy a put, thought I rolled the ball well and pace was fine (6/10; 8/10 stroke.) One 4-putt on 9 and a 3-putt on 15 were the only blemishes (4-putt bogey is a shame - disgraceful to the game.) Otherwise was a consistent 2-putt. My chipping could also use a little help getting within 5-10 ft in certain cases. Need to remember to be firmer on slower / less maintained greens (less break, more aggressive pace.)
Thought I got around the course well and did well to manage the round to the game I had today (9/10.) Fought through some careless mistakes like on 16 - hit a draw 8 iron into a right-to-left wind, ended plugged into a short-sided, pin-high bunker, managed to muscle a hooded 60 out but left short in rough - recovered with a very nice 54 that took a look at the hole - solid bogey save from a poor 2nd shot.
Third round I have entered into GHIN - so should get predicted handicap tomorrow. Think I am likely playing off a 15-17 (Grok calculated: 14.8.) Ideally, in single digits by summer.

The Betrayal of the Barrel
In the twilight of the shale age, the disciples of oil and gas gathered in the Permian to break bread and review rig counts. Among them sat Chris Wright, once a faithful steward of the flame.
But in secret, Chris struck a deal with the agents of transition.
“What will you give me if I deliver unto you the kingdom of hydrocarbons?”
And they offered him 30 carbon credits.
At the final gathering, the brethren asked,
“Shall we drill anew?”
But Chris dipped his hand in the diesel bowl and said, “Verily, I know not this industry.”
And with a kiss of net-zero and a whisper of regulation, he delivered the rigs into silence.
Thus was the barrel betrayed—not by force, but by policy.
And those who once called him brother now call him the Judas of Joules.
@ducavendish@JohnLeFevre 10yr at 4%. Biggest mistake the fed made was not hiking higher. There will be no FED put
You are a very unserious person — get a grip
I agree with the view.
Why call out pod shops as the cause? It’s so egregious to say that is the cause of decline when CTA’s, LO’s and essentially everyone lifted positions because of Trumps inability to put together a coherent and straight forward plan.
I agree with the trade you are pitching in the LONG TERM but if you are currently positioned this way — Pershing square will be in very bad shape
Maybe the most intense week of my life
To see that level of a meltdown was incredible. I do not know where it goes from here but what an experience to live through.
To all the junior pod guys out there - these are the days we’ll tell our juniors about…if we make through next week
@NoCapCapitalLLC So I believe the $150 is a revenue number - let’s call cash flow $50 increasing 3% /yr.
At 7% disc rate for 75 years NPV is ~$1.2bn
I would argue this is a terrible deal for the infra. Investor. Also can argue this is a decent deal for Chicago if used funds to pay down debt
