Neuroscientist, emeritus professor, author: Defense of the Scientific Hypothesis: From Reproducibility Crisis to Big Data (Oxford Univ. Press, 2019). Interests
Happy to announce that my book: Defense of the Scientific Hypothesis: From Reproducibility Crisis to Big Data (OxfordUniPress) is now available. Meant to be comprehensive yet accessible; ranges from philosophy of science to statistics to the future. Amazon or OUP.
@dr_alexharris Depends on what you mean by "rule out." If you mean "provides some evidence against," then sure. If "conclusively eliminates beyond any shadow of doubt," then no. Why? Because science can't ever do that. Best thing is to come up with another test of the hypothesis!😀
@BohacekLab A real contribution doesn't have to be a material thing. If the contributor added intellectual value - ideas, discussions, interpretations, etc. authorship, fine. If the contribution = #'s, a graph, etc., then not different from a technician's input. Authorship not necessary.
@RonFilipkowski Ah, it's all good! She's just got to hang in there a little longer and she'll come into a nice piece of change. Then she can go wherever, do whatever, and not look back.
.@LohmanAW and I are looking to hire a postdoc to study the interaction of stress, cannabinoids and TBI/concussion in rodent models.
A background in stress and/or inflammation is ideal.
If interested, please send an email with CV to [email protected]

Commentary: Honored to highlight and comment this recent study published in Biological Psychiatry on the involvement of microglia in THC’s impact on adolescent mouse brain. Great use of FACS-RNA sequencing and cyTOF. Enjoy!

@FrezzaLab@ItaiYanai Always looked back on post-doc years as the very best in my career. Freedom, resources, ability to follow your ideas - no responsibility for getting the grants, serving on committees, etc. etc.
@Tony_B_Cole @sthom003 Congratulations, Tony! Sorry I had to miss your presentation, but, unsurprisingly it got RAVE reviews from those who were there. Best of luck in your future.
