@HolmanLashayia This is very sad to see and hear that kind of neglect. Im sure being understaffed is a huge issue, but when you take on the role of a nurse you are supposed to give adequate care to your patients. This is where a social worker could step in and be a voice for this patient.
@missdevin18 i agree devin but it seems that we dont have updated policies for today, which was very shocking to me when i did my research paper. The last time welfare reform policy was updated was in 2015.
This article talks about if welfare efforts truly make a difference to poor. It mentions PRWORA. This policy showed early signs of success and the number of welfare recipients dropped after it passed. https://t.co/j54d1V4Kt9
@missdevin18 ACE's can affect a lot of things mentally. If you grow up in an abusive family relationship you are likely to grow up to hurt your family or other people because that is what you have learned same goes for welfare. Our youth grows up not knowing any different and does the same.
My twitter experience this semester was very informative to things i was unaware of. I can use social media in my career to find other things going on outside of my community that i am unaware of and obtain professional knowledge from others.
SW401 01 to round out our evening, in a NEW Tweet, discuss your twitter experience this semester; how will you use social media in your social work career?
@TynishaT5 glad that this is being addressed. Child care is very expensive. We expect people to hold jobs, but we don't take into consideration the underlying problems like having someone to watch your child. I think this would help decrease poverty as well and even help educate children.
Policy: The personal responsibility work opportunity act
Problem: Poverty
Poverty has increased in Americaβs society and it is not going to disappear. The key to the problem is to educate the society on not only the issue but how to obtain and support assistance programs
@SheaH2018 The goal was to get recipients to work so many hours a week to make them self sufficient and to give them experience to be able to work on their own and not rely on assistance!
@SheaH2018 Alana, I feel as though children in America have become even more after! According to congress each year close to 1,000,000 American children are victims! A big thing for social workers is that we need to recognize the signs and provide resources immediately
In my small town addiction is at an all time high!! We need to educate and provide more resources to the communities and the addicted! What are some other things social workers could do?
@MaiPham06499230 I think this would be very hard! I know I would struggle! However, I think the first step is giving up being alone! We can say negative things to our selfs and expect to not feel alone!
