@ctvedmonton Actually, the research in this area is pretty consistent: gun buybacks do not have any effect on crime.
If you want an actual expert in this area, I’d be happy to refer some to you.
Are you a practitioner that has experience conducting investigative interviews? If so, we are interested in hearing from you about your experiences and the challenges you face when questioning interviewees. Please check out our short survey here: https://t.co/qS0esXZrlO. Thanks!
Interesting new research about the U.S. experience with 'defunding police', how it was defined, how it unfolded in some U.S. cities, and what it could mean for Canada.

Just got funding from the Prov of Alberta to look at stressors on police officers there as a result of the growth of anti-authoritarianism and the new threat environment. We're doing confidential interviews on doxxing, physical/legal threats, overwhelming POU, etc. [email protected]
Did you know that in 2015, @PhillyPolice ran the largest experiment in predictive policing there had ever been?
And it found that targeted marked police cars reduced property crime by 31%, as well as in the subsequent 8-hour shift? And crime came down in the districts?
Yeah! 🧵
