Buying when there is “blood in the streets” is how you make big money. It’s also how you lose big money; that’s why people who get it right are in the Forbes 400 and those who don’t are broke. Don’t delude yourself into thinking it’s easy because you read some pithy Buffett quote
@JeffMarek It’s been great to see just how much support there is for you Jeff. Add me to the very long list of people who will enthusiastically support you in your next endeavor.
@johnarnold@patio11 Loss ratios are low because most title defects are identified and cured before closing. That is what you are paying for, you pay to identify title defects before they cause losses. The cost/value ratio for title defects”insurance” is quite low. $FAF
@pekwat@InnocenceCapit1@PythiaR@TidefallCapital The person I assume you are referring to made two 6-figure purchases of the stock in the last 3 months. Sharing an idea that you believe in and have your own money invested in for the long-term is not pumping. I have no opinion on the stock but the person is an A+ human being.
@taobanker Leases have 5-year terms with no escalators and very minimal leverage over the USPS upon renewal. And they have lots of floating rate debt. Tough asset to own in an inflationary environment. Great assets to own during a recession.
@DeadX93804 @TidefallCapital In fairness, I am not aware of any “dumping” of any of these stocks. The individuals who tweeted about these stocks are still heavily invested, I am not aware of a single share that has been sold. Stock performance notwithstanding, this is an unfair/inaccurate characterization.
@DavidKillion4 @sinstockpapi Vaping is not nearly as close of a substitute for cigarettes as IQOS - very different experience. Also, to the extent you do switch someone from cigarettes to vaping the economics are dramatically worse. $BTI needs cigarettes more than $PM.
@sinstockpapi $PM has an aggressive (and credible) plan to convert smokers to IQOS at improved economics. Banning cigarettes accelerates their plan as smokers are forced to find alternatives. $BTI loses as they have no credible alternative for cigarettes - their customers become IQOS customers
$FNV: "We try and avoid having long-term debt through the cycle...we put a premium on having financial flexibility over the benefits you get from financial leverage."
This is the right philosophy...the next few years are going to be rough for over-levered companies.
