And when referring to lines, they can be horizontal or vertical.... I guess my whole thing is that a "half-space" clunky terminology

At least in Spain, there are examples of coaches who are more than capable of getting good jobs/clubs here, but just get tired of getting paid shit wages over here that are not in keeping with their skill level

But street football is dying, the tactical culture can be excessive here, & many coaches go overboard with collective ideas that don't serve the INDIVIDUAL player's developmental needs

100% this. Clubs invest big $ in young players to get them to the top, so it's normal that they do everything possible to make sure this effort isn't wasted. But clubs that become despotic in controlling young players' lives undercut this investment by neglecting human needs

@CoachZvosec The player has to learn this by building self-awareness of his own role/responsibility. But clubs need to facilitate this by giving stability of a real club-wide game model w detailed individual roles so players have the ability to discern between relevant/irrelevant visual cues

@Don_K_Williams I raise this not to debate the claim, but rather because it's easy to picture institutions taking this message the wrong way, programming ORGANIZED multiple sports curricula to produce better soccer players in a way that completely misses the beneficial points

@Don_K_Williams Yes, but we have to be careful that this message doesn't get misconstrued. The key to their success here is more accurately described as having the freedom to PLAY and EXPERIMENT during formative years, which may o may not be related to multiple sports.

@CoachEricPogue The infatuation with "playing the right way" is making many clubs forget that their duty is to help develop PLAYERS for the next level. And 90% of these players will go teams that don't control possession, so defensive actions are what will help them make a career for themselves
