LSPs have destroyed localization both as a craft and as a means of living. Starvation rates, no proofreading, no LQA, no crediting! If the conditions under which localization is performed were out there in the open, more than one company would be forced to improve or be ousted.

Some time ago, we had a call with a big, Localization Service Provider company. They asked us to work on a big, dialogue driven videogame project using Machine Translation post-editing and review. (1/16)

Some takeaways from my meetings with indie/AA publishers and devs at GDC:
- 100% considered they had quality issues at some point while localizing their games, while quality being paramount! And the causes point to their vendors cutting corners (MT, lack of proofreading & LQA.)
Do you remember when Lionbridge reduced what they paid for fuzzies, because it implied the same translation for every segment?
