Am increasingly hearing from businesses big and small that were it not for the soaring energy bills they would be breaking even - suppliers still refusing contracts and 3-400% increases in bills still too common. Vital energy cos deliver relief & govt suppt extended beyond April
Maintaining as much Revenue as possible4 @hmtreasury means Govt should actually want 2support @UKHofficial Biz’s rather than destroying a huge proportion of them & the jobs of all the people employed in them? Our Sector being ruined will only create more pressure on Govt finances!
@ONS You've focused on energy but other pressures include decreased consumer spending, rates and the high vat levels. Throw in recruitment problems and onerous costly red tape and other costs and taxes, bbl and cbils repayments.....this sector is screwed.
Report that!

“The sector has been overwhelmed by one crisis after another and is incredibly fragile. We lost about 10% of the industry during the pandemic and we could lose as many businesses again if we do not get more support.” @UKHospKate@guardian@ObserverUK
