Bioinformatics @ Orna Therapeutics. Fun with RNA, NGS, bioinformatics, stats, ice cream, and the occasional wildlife photo. Tweets + opinions = my own.
Excited to see this out! Atomic was built from the ground up to fuse both cutting-edge experimental work and AI, and the ATOM-1 foundation model is a beautiful example of this in action.
Onwards and upwards to unlocking a whole new world of RNA-focused therapies!

Delighted to share our new review "Tailor made: the art of therapeutic mRNA design," co-authored with @mooreorless62 and @ChristophPepin. We explore the fascinating interplay between mRNA sequence & structure in mRNA medicine. #mRNA#therapeutics#mRNAdesign
Say hello to RNAcanvas and XRNA-React! 🌟
Now you can visualise RNA secondary structures in #R2DT and edit them to create publication quality diagrams, all in your browser 🎨✨

DALL-E’s amazing images are popping up all over the web. That software uses something called a diffusion model, which is trained to remove noise from static until a clear picture is formed.
Turns out diffusion models can design proteins too!
And this final pandemic piece is a distilled shot of the argument I’ve been brewing for 3 yrs. This has been soul-crushing work. We constantly forfeited the chance to do better. But that chance still exists, and we can’t afford the luxury of nihilism. 6/

Happy to announce that our paper on using VAEs for enzyme protein engineering is out in Scientific Reports today! Paper is here: https://t.co/7IZ7B3qUlC Code is here: https://t.co/VyV2r2kQGm.
I'm v grateful for all the help everyone involved at Moderna past and present.
I'm happy to announce the open-sourcing of SeqLike, a Python library for modern computational biology workflows. SeqLike is the result of a lot of careful and collaborative API design and has been in production at @moderna_tx for multiple years. https://t.co/SO7oSfgxRn 🧵
Our #DataScience and #AI team has released our first open-source software project: SeqLike!🙌
SeqLike is a #Python library that supports multiple computational research and production workflows at Moderna. https://t.co/fJVuTZkf13.
Everyone keeps talking about covid becoming endemic, but as I listen to the conversation, it’s becoming more & more clear to me that very few of you know what “endemic” means.
So here’s a thread on how pandemics end.
Delighted to announce inaugural RNA-themed Baking Competition in celebration of RNA Day (Aug 1st)! Details of how to submit your RNA-themed confections (photos of) in @RNASociety member email inboxes 🎂 🍰 🧁

Finally, as scientists, we need to continue to do our best to avoid political / opinion-based arguments about #SARSCoV2 origins / early spread, and remain focused on following two questions: (1) How can we get more data? (2) How can we better analyze the data we have? (15/n)
We're thrilled to release a manuscript on rare variant association testing on the exomes of 300k individuals in the UK Biobank https://t.co/Kgyc9Vk7Nq and a browser of the results: https://t.co/c8PJajiHK3
