This story just became far more interesting 🤔.

Judge Beryl Howell already settled that issue when she rejected the FBI and DEA's attempt to neither confirm nor deny the existence of responsive records and ordered searches to be conducted.

The result?
399 pages were processed. Some material was released, some redacted, and some remains withheld.

The latest court filings show the FBI defending its search of investigative records linked to "T-pain", while the DEA is defending continued redactions in documents including DEA-6, DEA-210 and DEA-292.

This is not a criminal trial. It is a FOIA case.

Aaron Greenspan is seeking greater disclosure. Judge Howell will decide what remains hidden and what the public gets to see.

The real question is no longer whether records exist. The real question is what lies beneath the black ink.

That question becomes even harder to ignore when viewed alongside another development.

During UNGA week, Nigeria and the United States signed a major minerals-investment framework. Abuja is seeking deeper American participation in a mineral sector it values at roughly $700 billion, while Washington has made critical minerals a strategic priority. Priority 🤔🤔.....

I am not claiming the minerals agreement caused the redactions. There is no evidence proving that. But, what I am saying is that the timing is remarkable.

A Nigerian president is resisting fuller disclosure of sensitive records.

U.S. agencies are fighting to keep significant portions of those records hidden.

At the same time, Washington and Abuja are deepening a strategic minerals relationship worth potentially hundreds of billions of dollars.

Coincidence is possible. But the timing of a major minerals deal and an increasingly vigorous effort to shield Tinubu's record from full public scrutiny is not something serious observers should ignore.

States pursue interests. Those interests are often easier to understand when you follow the money, the strategy and the timing together.

The debate used to be about whether the records existed. Now it is about what remains concealed.

And sitting beside those redacted pages is a newly signed agreement opening the door to America's participation in one of Africa's most significant mineral sectors.
