Excited to share our new commentary in Kidney International! We explore RASSF1A loss in ccRCC, genomic instability, and the critical role of chromosome 3p. Read it here: https://t.co/N72MmyuQvP
Last paper for 2024. Nice work by @mrwaas on proteomics of HNSCC tissues to identify novel biomarkers within the N0 population. Great collaboration with @laillesuhnrese1 and support from many colleagues @PMResearch_UHN
🧬 Breakthrough in #KidneyCancer research! Scientists @PMResearch_UHN have found a new treatment target for clear cell renal cell #carcinoma—PRMT1.
Read about this target's role in regulating DNA & how this opens the door for future therapies ➡️ https://t.co/1hHoHyor2I
Incredibly excited to share my PhD work published in @ScienceAdvances today.
For the first time, we have identified 1) a biological role of ADO AND 2) unexpected mechanism of essentiality that is unique to cancer cells.

New hope for kidney cancer patients! 🎗️
Researchers at @PMResearch_UHN discovered that blocking PRMT1, an epigenetic protein, causes kidney #cancer cells to self-destruct.
This breakthrough could lead to new #treatments for the deadliest form of the disease.

New therapeutic target for kidney cancer🎯
A team led by @laillesuhnrese1 @UHN found that inhibiting the protein PRMT1 can shrink kidney tumours by disrupting RNA metabolism and creating DNA damage. This discovery paves the way for new treatment options.

New research has found that inhibiting a specific protein, PRMT1, can inhibit the growth of kidney cancer cells by blocking the cells’ ability to repair DNA and replicate, which may lead to a novel therapeutic strategy in the treatment of kidney cancer.
