@Bronx_wrangler This is the reason when I do the post-retirement planning for clients, I factor in 2 sets of inflation numbers. General living costs inflate at x and medical aid inflates at y.
It’s crazy how much of one’s monthly budget needs to be allocated as a % the older they get.
@BrentLindeque First JHB winter for us and just had lunch outside, shirt off and in shorts. Glorious. Come inside to my study and straight into a hoody 😂
@Simon_Sithole20@sarstax Wait until they are retired. All those RA contributions sold as tax relief, the big pay day comes for SARS in 20-30 years time with inflation when retirees start drawing from their living annuities.
@DeanTTraining More excited than a kid on Xmas day. Purchased a Ninja Creami Deluxe yesterday (finally available in South Africa) and have my first batch in the freezer ready to be made this evening!
Looking back, committing to my health was probably my first Misogi.
It stretched me.
It humbled me.
It changed me.
Turning 40 feels like the right time to choose the next one.
No coasting.
What would yours be?
That season taught me something - real growth rarely happens when you’re comfortable.
Recently I came across the Misogi principle:
Choose 1 challenge each year so difficult you’ve got about a 50% chance of succeeding.
Most retirement plans are built to grow - very few are built to survive.
A 20% drawdown shouldn’t change your lifestyle.
A weaker currency shouldn’t shock your structure.
Living longer shouldn’t break your income.
Resilience > optimism.
U.S. monthly job creation trend:
2022 peak: +800k
2023 average: ~250k
2024 average: ~180k
Jan 2026: +130k
That’s a ~85% deceleration from the 2022 peak.
Not contraction.
But clearly late-cycle moderation.
Labour momentum is fading.

After 33 months South Africa has been removed from the Grey List. Other countries that have been removed include Nigeria, Mozambique and Burkina Faso. Hopefully the decision will improve the level of confidence in South Africa
@Discovery_SA@Vitality_SA please take a note on the below and start rewarding weight training better and while you at it, include supplements in the @Dischem benefit.
