people fall into the trap of looking at model releases like gpt 5.5 in isolation. this is how you end up hearing things like, pre training has hit a wall, we're at the end of the reasoning pardaigm

but you're better off thinking of these releases as steps, events, explosions. each of them propelling us on the path to asi, rsi, and an intelligence explosion.

(watch the three body problem for further deep insight, it's not actually that good but)

a huge pre trained beast like 4.5 gives us abundant data for the next, the reasoning traces in o1 stack up and up and up.

there is no end to where these explosions take us, from wandering around in a darkened library to illuminating the entire universe there is no end in sight

now 5.5, standing on the shoulders of giants, is the beginning of a new dawn. more post training, rl, more efficiency gains. when we've squeezed more magic out of spud, that won't be the end of the road, it will be another explosion that will eventually catapult us through the wormhole of rsi.
