🧠🔥 Just dropped a new chapter on Artificial Neural Networks in my free, online e-book:
Applied Machine Learning in Python: A Hands-On Guide with Code
🔩 A nuts-and-bolts approach — we break down the key ideas with a simple, clear design...
💻 Then we code it up and train it by hand — demystified with visualizations, math and Python!
📚 Educational content that’s accessible, actionable, and actually fun!

🧠 Covering artificial neural networks today in my #MachineLearning course — yes, it’s late in the semester on purpose!
📈 We build up from probability & statistics, to inferential and predictive ML, and finally into deep learning — with solid foundations!
🎛️ To demo it, I’m using my interactive Python @matplotlib dashboard, where the ANN is trained by hand — super helpful for understanding what’s really happening under the hood.
👨🏫 Check it out on GitHub:

I’ve built a whopping 70+ interactive #Python dashboards using @matplotlib to teach the most essential concepts in #DataAnalytics 📊 and #MachineLearning 🤖. BUT WAIT... there’s more! 🥳
What’s cooler than that? 🤔 How about short YouTube walkthroughs 🎥 to quickly refresh those fundamental concepts 🧠, followed by a fun, step-by-step tour of each interactive dashboard? 🏎️💨
🚨 It’s time to level up! 🚨

Let’s goooooo! 💥💥💥 ∀!
🎉 I'm excited to announce that I’ve recently expanded my free online e-book,
Applied Geostatistics in Python
to 40 chapters! 🎉
Each chapter is accessible, downloadable, and packed with actionable insights 💡. I’m thrilled to offer this resource to help you dive deeper into the world of #spatial #DataScience #geostatistics using #Python 🐍. Let’s get started! 🚀https://t.co/k9WQGX0jAM ∀.
Our new paper has been published in #BSSA!
We developed a new source-process estimation method with radiation-corrected empirical Green's function (EGF).
By this method, we can estimate a source process including slip direction with a single EGF event.

Ministry of Natural Resources in China releases the first LuTan-1 (L-band SAR satellite)-based earthquake displacement field and fault slip model associated with Jan. 7, 2025 Mw 6.8 earthquake that occurred in Dingri County, Shigatse City, Tibet.
Around the world, toys have been used to teach children what they need to know about the society they live in. When they teach the right skills, youngsters are prepared for adulthood and thrive. When they do not, calamity beckons https://t.co/07xtezkwai
During the American Thanksgiving break, I had some valuable time to build out the "#Probability Concepts" chapters for my "Applied #Geostatistics" and "Applied #MachineLearning" free, e-books.
It's been an exciting and productive experience! I'm putting in a lot of effort to ensure that the essential prerequisites are clear and accessible to everyone. I'll be updating the e-books this coming Monday.
I'm stoked to share evergreen educational content!

🚨 “Our new paper in Science is out! Here’s a quick breakdown of what we found and why it matters. 🧵👇 #Tweetorial”
"Earthquakes deform the areas near the fault in a dramatic and devastating fashion. However, additional deformation occurs far from the fault over a longer timescale as the crust adjusts to the changes in stress. Ergintav et al. showed that this far-field deformation was much larger after the 6 February 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquake sequence than expected. The large amount of far-field deformation has broad implications for the seismic hazard assessment of the region and may require rethinking the mechanics of some types of earthquakes." —Brent Grocholski @BrentGrocholski
