Honoured to meet Prof. Leslie Valiant & present at #GYSS2022 on geostatistical model extensions for applications incl. public health & disaster risk. Thanks @gyss_sg team & @NTUsg, @eos_sg & @davidlallemant for the nomination! https://t.co/PDSc2C3E5B (my talk starts at 3:10:22)
At #URAsia 2021 we have just launched the #AvertedDisasterAward🏅to recognize successful disaster mitigation interventions that are made invisible by the very nature of their success

Happy to have contributed to this #COP26 report on Adaptation and Resilience in ASEAN, with colleagues from @EOS_SG, @UofGlasgow, @HWUMalaysia, @UniOfYork , Viet Nam National University, & ASEAN Secretariate (@ASEAN). Some key messages of the report in 🧵:
Caught up with all of the "animal" metaphors used to describe risk? Today we're sharing @DisasterYolanda's project, which summarizes 16 animal metaphors in The Risk Zoo. She visually encodes probability, impact, hazard visibility, and event onset with the Zoo's features.
Congratulations Dr. Sabine Loos (@sab_loos) on this exciting appointment 🎉 It has been such a privilege to work with Sabine over the years. Learn about her work: https://t.co/jKeAzhgkem & congrats to @UM_CEE on getting an amazing new faculty & colleague!

"Gauging benefits of natural ecosystems in fighting floods" Our work on probabilistic analysis to quantify flood risk reduction benefits of natural ecosystems featured by @cheryltans in The Straits Times https://t.co/J8rfzrQUuI @EOS_SG@NTU_ASE@ScienceNTU#NatureBasedSolutions
Flooding makes it hard for farmers to grow crops. In India, farmers are growing vegetables on floating farm beds in rivers to build coastal resilience. This method is cost-effective & less labour-intensive than field agriculture.
