@ChristRobbins Thanks for investigating this, great story. The sheds that make the least sense to me are the kind on NYCHA has that provide literally no protection from anything falling from a building. In that context the annual $30M that NYCHA spends is even more outrageous. @KeithPowersNYC
@KeithPowersNYC@MarkLevineNYC@ebottcher@ShaunAbreu Why do sidewalks near "tower in the park" style buildings even need sheds "protecting" areas quite far away from the buildings? Are bricks flying 50 feet sideways? How much does @NYCHA spend each year on totally useless sheds?
@julestrainman Number of daily riders is not really the relevant number for determining capacity. More relevant is ridership at the peak load point of the line. That's how NYCT determines capacity needs.
@Cobylefko Paterson, NJ. It needs more social investment in its current residents but it has good train access to nearby cities, a beautiful walkable downtown, tons of cool old factory buildings and an amazing waterfall that is also happens to be a national park site.
@jvhawkins How much does Nycha spend every year on scaffolding that is covering sidewalks 50 feet away from any buildings? Maybe local law 11 could be updated? @NYCCouncil38 CM Aviles can you fix this and save Nycha tons of money?
@dutchviewonall @TildaSwishin@Po_C_HILL@elizaorlins Makes a lot more sense now! And thanks, I had a pretty mild case and I'm basically totally recovered already.
@danieljames5446 I think what you mean is fuck society. Standard time means it's noon when the sun is at its highest point in the sky. It's not the clock that dictates when you sleep or work.
@BrentToderian She's right on this one. Yet in Pretend It's a City she ranted against the Times Square plaza! Classic contradiction you hear at many community board meetings. And that's part of why we continue to muddle through on dealing with traffic.
@wmcintyre84@2AvSagas Per NEPA, federally funded projects have to analyze potential environmental impacts. "Environment" is broadly defined and includes things like looking at impacts to existing transportation infrastructure, in addition to the more obvious "environment," air quality, water, etc.
@GayLaVie I too am frustrated when this happens but rather than directing our ire toward people walking and talking we should be angry at city planners / leaders for implementing and maintaining absurdly designed streets whereby people cannot walk and talk. End "free" parking!
Thank you @CarlinaRivera@NYCCouncil for making #OpenStreetsNYC permanent!
The program might have come from a crisis, but it's proven to be something New Yorkers should have access to post-pandemic. We can't wait for the next chapter.
Dianne Morales is the only NYC mayoral candidate proposing meaningful structural changes in policing. Solid proposal here to redirect funds away from the police and reduce their workload of things they aren't good at and aren't trained to do.
Today, we are rolling out our plan for the Community First Responders Department (CFRD), part of our strategy to radically transform health and safety in NYC. This plan is part of a larger framework to defund the NYPD and invest in our communities. 🧵 https://t.co/ZIiOLbvld6
@TransitNinja205 @scottmstringer I like Stringer, but he's supposed to be a details guy. This is either lazy pandering or dishonest. Probably the first.
@TransitNinja205 @scottmstringer Plus constraints like cranberry tubes still prevent 10tph on the C. Not to mention capacity constraints due to midday and evening work on the ROW.
