I wrote a hands-on guide for newbies on how to contribute to Bitcoin OSS. It contains many tips and tricks to A) find something to do and B) survive the first code review without crying (or using `git merge`). Check it out! 🤓

@cguida6@BitcoinScoresby I could go on, but this is just ridiculous. It is not good to post something with no evidence ("all these companies are reviewing bip110") and then claim it's true by default, so you'll only remove them if someone from each company explicitly declares that they are not doing so.
Cos'è la prasseologia?? Te lo mostriamo con uno sketch teatrale!

@sesi_the_man Step 1: create activation client
Step 2: distribute it to thousands of nodes
Step 3: post about how the fork is happening in 45 days and to upgrade now
Step 4: code review
@LapiuPepe@dathon_ohm Pressuring/bullying people to review your work isn’t ok in bitcoin protocol open source. Funders don’t do it. Colleagues don’t do it. Review is scarce, people review what they want to when they can, and there is no entitlement or claim on people’s’ scarce time.
More from Day 2 of Plan ₿ Summer School.
Behind the scenes, @DanielaBrozzoni shares how the Tech cohort created wallets, generated addresses and moved coins during her Bitcoin Core Wallet workshop.
On the Business side, @FedericoTenga reflects on a session focused on Bitcoin markets, from spot and derivatives to options and risk management.
Two different classrooms, one shared approach: learn by doing.
Watch the recap!
Day 2 of Plan ₿ Summer School.☀️
Students are back in the classrooms, starting the day with workshops across both cohorts.
On the Tech side, @danielabrozzoni from Bitcoin Core led a hands-on workshop on Bitcoin Core Wallet.
On the Business side, @FedericoTenga from @bitfinex led a workshop on Trading on Bitcoin.
A few more days to go, and the enthusiasm remains strong.
The main critique about Sv2 JD protocol is that, in FULL_TEMPLATE mode, the miner sends the tx_ids list to the server (this doesn't happen in COINBASE_ONLY mode).
By looking at the DATUM gateway code, I noticed it does the same, when a request for it comes from the server 👇
Read the first half of the article so far
The article repeats again how the datacarriersize documentation was changed in 2023 and that orginally it covered "all forms of data embedding". The implication being in the 2023 to 2025 period, that there was some kind of neferious attempt to narrow the scope of datacarriersize to allow more arbitrary data and that SegWit & Taproot were somehow a problem as they were not covered by datacarriersize
This key point of the article is completly false. When datacarriersize was added in 2014, it ONLY applied to OP_Return. It did NOT cover P2SH input scripts, just like it does not cover Taproot input scripts or SegWit witness data.

Bologna

Call me crazy, but I think parents should determine what their teenagers do online rather than the government.
And that governments shouldn't use system-level ID checks to identify and monitor everything.
@1440000bytes@l0rin Now, one thing that it seems many didn't get, reading the comments, is that at the very worst this bug is equivalent to just not upgrading to this feature at all. Still, fake sense of security could be an overall risk.
@LukeDashjr@BitcoinKnots I don't read "I won't merge 29415 because it is underreviewed and prone to bugs", I read that you wanted to review it before merging it. Which is fine of course... But a different story
