The 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 in Manipur against the 𝗞𝘂𝗸𝗶 community since 𝟯 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 was escalated by a false narrative alleging that Meitei women had been raped by 𝗞𝘂𝗸𝗶s in Churachandpur. The False allegation was spread by 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 and amplified by the 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗶 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

In short, more than 250 Kukis lost their lives following the spread of this false allegation.

Despite these false allegations, no arrests have been made. This has raised serious concerns among many about accountability, equal enforcement of the law, and public trust in the justice system in Manipur.

Connecting Eastern Kukiland and Southern Kukiland.

The Khulmi Bridge on the SS Road in Chandel District, Southeast Kukiland, has been inaugurated. It is a significant infrastructure development achieved after Separate Administration, and was completed through crowd funding.

This bridge has been constructed to provide direct connectivity between Eastern Kukiland — comprising Tengnoupal District and Moreh Town in Chandel District — and Southern Kukiland — comprising Churachandpur District.
The Khulmi Bridge will serve as a direct link for areas predominantly inhabited by Thadou-Kuki speaking communities, without the need to traverse through other community areas.

With the commissioning of this bridge, transportation between Moreh in Tengnoupal District and Churachandpur District will be greatly facilitated. The movement of essential commodities and goods will also become more efficient and convenient.

The Supreme Court's direction for a fresh forensic examination of the alleged audio clip attributed to former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh is an important step in ensuring that the truth is established through an independent legal process. If the authenticity of the audio is confirmed through forensic analysis, the findings should be followed by a fair, impartial, and transparent investigation in accordance with the law. At the same time, if the audio is found to be inauthentic, that should also be made clear through the same legal process.

For more than three years, the people of Manipur have endured immense suffering, displacement, destruction of homes, and loss of innocent lives. Many people are waiting for accountability, transparency, and justice. Any evidence that may help establish the facts surrounding the violence should be examined thoroughly without delay. Justice delayed only deepens mistrust among affected communities.

We respectfully urge the concerned authorities to complete the forensic examination at the earliest, make the findings public through due legal process, and take appropriate action based on the evidence. The rule of law must apply equally to everyone, regardless of position or political office. Only a transparent and impartial investigation can strengthen public confidence and contribute to lasting peace in Manipur.

OPERATION HUINAO- Kacha Naga Tangkhul NSCN-IM.

There is a recurring pattern wherein, when public condemnation arises over incidents that resulted in the death of two personnel of 40 Assam Rifles and injuries to eight others, certain groups associated with Tangkhul NSCN-IM from Hebron Camp, along with media outlets such as Khanuithot-Khon and associated social media accounts, distance themselves and shift the narrative toward the Kuki-Zo community.

A similar pattern was observed at TM Kasom on May 29, 2026, where civilians were killed in broad daylight, and later at Hongbei Junction on March 28, 2026, where four civilians lost their lives at the hands of Tangkhul Naga NSCN-IM.

It may also be recalled that during the Lok Sabha election campaign of Alfred Kangngam Arthur, incidents involving civilian casualties were reported on March 18, 2024, at TK Woodland Resort, Paorei Shirui Village, and on March 19, 2024, at Teinem Village.

Ukhrul, July 6: The Kuki CSO Working Committee (WCKCSOs), Ukhrul, has strongly condemned the deadly ambush on an Assam Rifles convoy at Nongshangkong on July 6, which claimed the lives of Warrant Officer Balwan Singh and Havildar C.M. Singh. The committee described the attack as a "heinous act" and expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved families while paying tribute to the security personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.

In a press statement titled "The Politics of Blame," the committee rejected allegations circulating on social media that sought to hold the Kuki-Zo community responsible for the ambush. It argued that Nongshangkong is predominantly inhabited by Tangkhuls and that blaming the Kuki-Zo community without evidence lacks credibility.

The committee further alleged that NSCN (IM) continues to pose a security threat in the region, claiming that Kuki-Zo villages and civilians have repeatedly been targeted while being wrongly portrayed as perpetrators of violence.

Highlighting events that allegedly took place on July 6, the committee claimed that an unannounced bandh disrupted movement in Yaingangpokpi, followed by reported firing towards Kuki-Zo farmers in the Chepu Yaolen area. It also alleged that firing later occurred near Ringui village, forcing Kuki-Zo cultivators to flee. According to the statement, these incidents were documented by government agencies deployed in the area.

The organisation also criticized what it described as selective reporting of the Nongshangkong ambush, alleging that incidents in Kuki-Zo areas are often prematurely attributed to "Kuki militants" without sufficient evidence.

Calling for a fair and impartial investigation, the committee urged the Government of India to conduct search operations in areas suspected of being used as launch pads for militant attacks and to review the existing ceasefire framework with NSCN (IM) to prevent its misuse.

The Kuki CSO Working Committee concluded by urging both the Manipur Government and the Government of India to take transparent and decisive action to identify those responsible for the attack and restore public confidence.

TWO ASSAM RIFLES PERSONNEL KILLED IN AMBUSH:

Warrant Officer Balwant Singh and Havildar C.M. Singh of the 40 Assam Rifles, the latter reportedly serving as the driver, were killed today in an ambush at Nungshang Khong, Ukhrul District. The attack was carried out by NSCN-IM, a Tangkhul secessionist group identified as a narco-terrorist organization.

This community has obstructed the movement of Assam Rifles, the Indian Army, and paramilitary forces over the past five months. The Government of India must initiate stringent action against these Kacha Naga, Myanmar-based Tangkhul narco-terrorists, NSCN-IM.

CONDEMNATION

The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) expresses its strongest possible condemnation and profound outrage over the barbaric and cowardly attack carried out this evening against the peaceful residents of Thingkhongjang Village under K. Geljang Sub-Division, Kangpokpi District. The attack was perpetrated by armed cadres of the NSCN-Muivah and its proxy faction, ZUF-Kamson. Several civilian homes were deliberately set ablaze, while indiscriminate firing left an innocent woman and a young child seriously injured. The deliberate targeting of an unarmed civilian settlement is nothing less than an act of terror against innocent people and represents a grave assault on human dignity and the rule of law.
This incident raises deeply disturbing questions regarding the conduct and effectiveness of the security forces deployed in the area. The attack occurred despite the presence of the 86th Battalion, F Coy stationed in the vicinity. It is beyond comprehension that heavily armed militants could infiltrate the area, unleash violence upon civilians, torch homes, injure women and children, and withdraw without decisive intervention. Such a monumental security failure cannot be dismissed as a routine lapse. It warrants the highest level of scrutiny and accountability.
The Superintendent of Police and the Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi District have, on numerous occasions, publicly assured the people that the security of every village within the district rests under their responsibility. A Memorandum of Understanding was also made with the Government of Manipur that the security and safety of innocent villagers and villages within Kangpokpi District would be the responsibility of the District Police, and that Kuki-Zo volunteers need not guard their villages. Those assurances now stand shattered. The people have every right to ask how such a heinous attack could take place under the very administration entrusted with safeguarding civilian lives.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur unequivocally demands immediate accountability from all officers whose negligence or failure of command contributed to this incident, pending the completion of an independent judicial inquiry. The people deserve a transparent, impartial, and time-bound investigation capable of establishing the full facts, identifying every individual responsible for operational failures, and ensuring that appropriate legal and disciplinary action follows without delay.
The Government of India and the Government of Manipur must understand that the continued failure to protect innocent civilians gravely undermines public confidence in the institutions of the State. Repeated assurances are meaningless if they are not matched by decisive action on the ground. Every instance of inaction only deepens public distrust and emboldens those who seek to terrorise defenceless communities.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur makes it unequivocally clear that the people will no longer accept empty promises, administrative silence, or delayed responses while innocent families continue to suffer. Justice delayed is justice denied. Those entrusted with the constitutional duty to protect the lives and properties of citizens must either fulfil that responsibility or be held fully accountable before the law and before the people.

Kangpokpi, July 3, 2026: The Committee on Protection of Tribal Areas, Manipur–Kuki Hills (COPTAM-KH) has strongly condemned the repeated attacks on K. Songlung (Machet) Village in Kangchup Geljang Sub-Division, Kangpokpi District, and urged the Government of Manipur and the Government of India to take immediate action against those allegedly responsible.

COPTAM-KH alleged that armed cadres of the Liangmai-led Zeliangrong United Front (Kamson faction) attacked and set fire to K. Songlung Village at around 12:15 p.m. on January 26, 2026. The organization claimed that seven houses and two four-wheeler vehicles were destroyed, while villagers were allegedly blindfolded, deprived of their mobile phones, and cut off from communication. It further alleged that the attackers operated from militant hideouts located in Makhan, Konsakhul (Konsaram), Ireng Naga, Namdilong, and Khulkhul.

The committee also recalled an earlier attack on June 5, 2023, when it alleged that 44 houses in the main K. Songlung Village were burned down. The press release attributed the incident to members of Meitei armed groups, including Arambai Tenggol, Valley-Based Insurgent Groups (VBIGs), and the Liangmai-led Zeliangrong United Front (Kamson faction). It also alleged the involvement or acquiescence of certain state security personnel and members of the Foothills Naga Coordination Committee.

COPTAM-KH further stated that the village had previously been attacked during the 1993 Kacha Naga-Kuki conflict, alleging that cadres of NSCN (IM) burned down the village and killed several residents. The organization said the repeated attacks over more than three decades have caused displacement, insecurity, and hardship for the villagers.

In its statement, COPTAM-KH called for a prompt, impartial, independent, and comprehensive investigation into the alleged attacks. It also demanded the identification and dismantling of the alleged militant hideouts, the arrest and prosecution of those responsible, permanent security arrangements for K. Songlung Village and other vulnerable tribal villages, and adequate relief, rehabilitation, and compensation for the affected families.

The committee reiterated that the safety, security, and constitutional rights of the tribal inhabitants of K. Songlung Village must be protected and that those responsible for the alleged acts of violence should be brought to justice through due process of law.

The Kuki Community alleges that today morning Phaimol Village in Kamjong District, a Kuki ancestral village, was burnt down by NSCN-IM, ZUF (Kamson Group), NSCN Eastern Flank, and Shan National Army/Junta military elements allegedly entering India through Tangkhul-dominated areas, marking yet another act of violence against Kuki ancestral villages.

The Kuki Community questions whether COBRA Team Central Forces are present only to target Kuki civilians while completely ignoring the alleged activities of NSCN-IM, ZUF (Kamson Group), NSCN Eastern Flank, and Shan National Army/Junta military elements. The continued burning of Kuki ancestral villages has raised serious concerns among affected communities.

The Kuki Community further questions why justice remains elusive in the killing of three Kuki pastors, eleven civilians, and an unborn child. Concerns continue to be raised regarding the alleged presence of NSCN-IM, ZUF (Kamson Group), NSCN Eastern Flank, and Shan National Army/Junta military elements in Ukhrul District, Senapati District, Kamjong District, Konsaram Khullen, Liangmai areas, and other Kacha Naga-dominated regions.

The Kuki Community states that it will not remain a mute spectator if security agencies fail to protect civilians and prevent further violence. If the Government of India, the Manipur Government, COBRA units, and Central Forces cannot protect civilians from alleged foreign militant elements, immediate action, accountability, and the protection of Kuki ancestral villages and innocent civilians must be ensured without delay.

Kangpokpi, June 30, 2026:
The Committee on Protection of Tribal Areas, Manipur–Kuki Hills (COPTAM-KH) has raised concerns over alleged illegal settlements in the Namdilong, Kanglatongbi and Makhan areas, claiming that the locations fall within the historically recognized and judicially demarcated boundary of Saitu Village in Saitu Gamphazol Sub-Division, Kangpokpi District.

COPTAM-KH stated that Saitu Village is a government-recognized hill village and referred to the Manipur Gazette notification of 25 May 1951, along with the Judicial Adjudication of Village Boundaries under Manipur State Darbar, Hill Miscellaneous Case No. 469 of 1906–07, as the basis for its claim over the village boundary.

The organisation alleged that attempts to establish settlements, construct permanent structures and alter the demographic character of the area were being carried out without the consent of the hereditary Chief and Village Authority. It said such actions threaten customary land rights and may affect communal harmony and public order.

COPTAM-KH further stated that the area falls under the notified Hill Areas of Manipur and urged authorities to ensure that constitutional and legal protections relating to tribal land are upheld.

The committee has appealed to the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, Kangpokpi, to take immediate action, including stopping further occupation, conducting field verification of the village boundary, removing alleged encroachments, and initiating legal proceedings against those found responsible.

COPTAM-KH reiterated that the customary territory of Saitu Chiefdom should not be treated as vacant land and called upon the government authorities to protect what it described as the constitutional rights and territorial integrity of the Scheduled Tribe inhabitants of the area.

Subject: Complaint seeking investigation into alleged seditious activities and threats to India’s sovereignty by Dr. Nelson Vashum and associates

Respected Sir,

With due respect, I wish to bring to your notice alleged seditious activities that pose a threat to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India, as enshrined in Article 1 of the Constitution.

Facts of the matter:
1. Dr. Nelson Vashum, a medical doctor by profession, identified as the brother of Atem Vashum, SS “Deputy Prime Minister” & former Army Chief of Tangkhul secessionist narco-terrorist organization NSCN-IM, is alleged to have publicly advanced a separatist agenda to carve out an independent “Naga State” from Indian territory.
2. He is reported to have declared plans to hoist an “independent Naga flag” on August 14, 2026, across the border in Myanmar, and to seek legitimacy from US officials, including a Cabinet member or an emissary designated by President Donald J. Trump.
3. He is further alleged to have rejected India’s sovereignty, stating: “We will never live scattered and divided at the whims and fancies of the occupiers, that is, India,” and to have described India’s presence in Nagaland since October 1954 as “invasion.”
4. Dr. Nelson Vashum is reportedly the brother of Shri Khasim Vashum, sitting MLA and former Cabinet Minister, Government of Manipur, and Shri Sword Vashum, President, Tangkhul Naga Long and retired IAAS officer. Their family survives on government services and salaries in different capacities; however, their mentality and motive appear to be to break the Indian Union, similar to Kashmiri separatists.

The above statements/actions appear to constitute offenses under Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 – _acts endangering sovereignty, unity and integrity of India_, and Section 61 – _criminal conspiracy_.

While the six sister states of Northeast India are advancing through railways, airports, tourism, and digital infrastructure, Manipur continues to be affected by prolonged conflict.

The people of Kangpokpi District demand accountability and impartial governance. Recent developments in Leilon Vaiphei have raised serious concerns about the conduct of security operations and the absence of district administration on the ground.

1. If he is not willing to reside in the Kangpokpi District SP Quarter allotted by the Government, he must be transferred immediately from Kangpokpi.

2. If he chooses to stay in Pangei, which is located in Imphal East District, he must be transferred immediately to Imphal East.

3. The SP must be stationed in his district and personally supervise and monitor the situation, instead of operating from his Pangei quarters.

4. Immediate transfer of Mr. M. Vikash, Assistant Commandant, C/158 CRPF, currently posted at Konsakhul.

5. Immediate return of the single/double-barrel guns held under license that were seized from the villagers. This is necessary for their protection and safety from Tangkhul NSCN-IM and their stooges, the ZUF-Kamson terrorist group.

6. Harassment of innocent villagers of Leilon Vaiphei must be stopped immediately.

We seek only justice, security, and equal treatment under law. The Government of India and the State Government must act without delay to restore the confidence of innocent civilians

Dozens of Kuki-Zo women launched an indefinite sit-in protest at Shangkhai in Manipur's Ukhrul district, alleging difficulties in accessing essential services and claiming discriminatory treatment by the district administration.

The protest, organised by the Kuki Women Union (KWU) with support from the Working Committee of Kuki Civil Society Organisations (WCKCSOs), is demanding that Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner Uppuluri Chaitanya visit the site and address the community's concerns.

Protesters displayed placards alleging administrative bias and said they would continue the agitation until the administration provides concrete assurances to resolve their grievances. Organisers said the protest is being carried out peacefully.

The demonstration follows a June 19 incident in which three Tangkhul Naga civilians were allegedly detained by Kuki volunteers at Mongkot Chepu while travelling to Imphal. They were later released after intervention by Litan Police and safely escorted out of the area.
