@Luminouslead It is notable that 150 points is not necessarily the win. If the side that doesn't catch the snitch is 152 points ahead, that 150 points doesn't actually win. So it's meant to be a bit of strategy that you need to either catch the snitch quickly or later become strategic.
@DonaldLamb62402@DodgerWing Respectfully, the problem is that Hermione is the 90's intermediary step to the problem we have today. All of that girl power is what directly leads to the yearning. Because men compete with women for jobs rather than getting jobs to compete for women, they yearn.
@steveislegend@benzostraydogs It's writing for Netflix Audiences (now streaming more broadly). The people who can't stop talking or looking at their phones to pay attention. They need verbal cues for things or they'll look up and go, "I don't know what's happening."
@atkolator I love the nervousness and your artist talent! Her being "one of the guys", but clamming up whenever her femininity comes up is great characterization.
@Pau_Watani@iceface88 The explanation I've seen is that the nobility actively lobbied against it so that the government couldn't use it against them to reveal family secrets. I agree, though. How many people share their Netflix password or watch pirated content? Do you want truth serum used for that?
@Aurora_verdit A great many well educated people dismiss anything that isn't known to them. They create bubbles of knowledge and assume anyone who speaks against their bubble is simply lying because surely they and their brilliant colleagues would know it, if it were true. Academia is dangerous
@Luminouslead Interestingly, this is something we see with AI and automated systems more broadly. People assume that the system is infallible, to the point of not questioning the system when it produces erroneous results. Working in IT, it's crazy to see people so blindly trust systems.
@oofinator_the@PLeigh_Presents The author has stated that, so far, their plan is to have him more or less get promoted out of the position towards his goal of setting up P.E. for Hogwarts. There was also the idea of him leaving to investigate more about Tom after the CoS reveals that name.
@FatherCannon@PLeigh_Presents I'd love for Gilderoy to just deck a Death Eater with a right hook. Can really lean into the noble tradition of boxing as a weird, niche thing for some wizards. "Muggle boxing is fine enough, but we can make it a little more interesting." Magic Fist that's really big.
@Yoglathotep Tomboy who doesn't realize how feminine she's becoming because she's emotionally comfortable being "one of the boys" due to her brothers. As things continue, she struggles with expectations of young women, but Harry doesn't really treat her differently.
@DanGuy96 Different idea: Merge Ginny into Ron and make Ronnie. Their insecurities overlap by being the youngest boy and the girl, both feeling they need to prove themselves to stand out. The Weasley romance gets more development instead of coming out of left field at the 11th hour.
@LavenderGhast Worse than that, it diminishes her. Isaac holds her up as the epitome of femininity in his mind. She is not human, but divine to him. She is the the personification of all those qualities which he fails to find in himself and he tortures himself throughout the second game over it
@demons_under@iriscal It's a small detail, but an important one. I don't think it "ruins" the worldbuilding or anything, but it's an example of why I think the "technicality" of the victory feels out of place. It doesn't come up at all those other times before, but is suddenly THE make or break.
@mirvein@RicharD1ckJohn@felix_valenti1c the relationship with Harry. Imagine the Book 4 strained relationship being exacerbated by the loss of that platonic intimacy. Even when friendship resumes, it's different. 5/5
@mirvein@RicharD1ckJohn@felix_valenti1c more comfortable with the boys, but hits a point in puberty where she starts to realize why she can't just go hang with the guys in their dorm. It gives her an interesting arc about maintaining her tomboy identity as she grows into a young woman. Adds that complication to 4/?
