Prime 9 News License Suspended

In a major crackdown on illegal news media , The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has suspended the license of Hyderabad-based news channel Prime 9 News. 

The suspension of Prime 9 News is a major blow to the channel, which has a significant viewership in Hyderabad.

The channel was found to be in serious violation of broadcasting norms, including giving a free 23-hour, 55-minute slot to another company, Samhitha Broadcasting Pvt Ltd.

Samhitha Broadcasting is actually the one in control of Prime 9 News, while Rayudu Vision Media Limited, which owns the channel on paper, is just a front. 

The trademark of Prime 9 News is also owned by Samhitha Broadcasting, however before MIB filings Rayudu Vision Media was shown as the owner of the trademark. 

Our sources say that someone very close to the power corridor in Hyderabad was closely connected to this channel. 

The suspension of Prime 9 News is a welcome move by the I&B Ministry. 

It sends a strong signal that the government is serious about cracking down on illegal and unethical media practices.
