That's M23/Twirwaneho territory in eastern DRC. Reportedly all 4 aboard died.

Early fingers point at either Wazalendo (Kinshasa-backed) or Burundian military forces. Shooting down a medevac is a war crime.

Attribution is messy; this conflict has so many armed actors it's basically a alphabet soup of militias.

Humanitarian access just got worse in a place that can't afford it.

#Minembwe : Ruberwa accuse le gouvernement d'un « agenda caché » avec Bujumbura

Décrivant une situation de « bombardements journaliers au drone et par des avions militaires Sukhoï », Azarias Ruberwa a dressé un tableau accablant de la crise humanitaire à Minembwe, dans les Hauts-Plateaux du Sud-Kivu. Le représentant de la communauté Banyamulenge accuse le gouvernement congolais de mal gérer ce dossier, estimant que son alliance avec les forces burundaises a aggravé la situation, au point de s'interroger sur l'existence d'un « agenda caché ».

Ruberwa rencontré à Washington, réclame une enquête internationale et indépendante sur les crimes commis sur place, rappelant que d'anciens responsables des Nations unies avaient évoqué, par le passé, un risque d'épuration ethnique et de génocide visant les Banyamulenge.

L'ancien vice-président appelle également à une intervention humanitaire d'urgence, dénonçant l'inaction de la communauté internationale malgré les rapports alarmants du CICR, de Human Rights Watch et du Programme alimentaire mondial.

Selon lui, deux hommes détiennent la clé d'un cessez-le-feu durable : le président Tshisekedi, à la tête de la CIRGL, et son homologue burundais Évariste Ndayishimiye, actuel président de l'Union africaine.

Today, we are pleased to share encouraging news regarding our response to the Ebola outbreak in AFC/M23/Twirwaneho-administered areas.
Following weeks of coordinated surveillance, case management, contact tracing, laboratory testing, and community engagement, we are pleased to announce that all identified contacts have successfully completed their follow-up period.

Over the course of the response, more than 400 contacts were monitored with a daily follow-up completion rate exceeding 98 percent. Throughout this intensive surveillance period, no additional Ebola cases were detected among those under follow-up. At this time, there are no confirmed Ebola patients receiving treatment and no contacts currently under active monitoring within our jurisdiction.

This marks the successful containment of the first wave of the outbreak in the areas under our administration.

This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and sacrifice of our frontline healthcare workers, surveillance teams, laboratory personnel, community health volunteers, local leaders, and all those who worked tirelessly under challenging circumstances to protect our communities.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to our humanitarian and technical partners whose expertise, logistical support, and collaboration were essential to this successful response.

A key lesson from this response has been the importance of people-centered interventions. Through sustained door-to-door community engagement, health education, and close collaboration with local communities, we strengthened public trust, encouraged early reporting of suspected cases, and promoted adherence to public health measures. These efforts were instrumental in successfully containing the outbreak.

Today's announcement should not be interpreted as the end of the Ebola threat.

The Ebola virus remains active in other parts of eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, where ongoing transmission continues to pose a regional public health risk. As long as transmission persists elsewhere, there remains the possibility of imported cases into our communities through population movement.

For this reason, we will remain vigilant.

The first day on Family Sphere was marked by powerful and inspiring teachings on the vital role that families play in shaping the future of Africa.

Dr. Gregory Ijiwola reminded parents that they have a responsibility to know their children deeply, understand their unique calling and purpose and help them walk in the path that God has designed for them. He emphasized that parents should intentionally guide their children so that they can fulfill God's plan for their lives.

Apostle Michael Adefarasin also emphasizes that parents should do their very best in raising their children. He encouraged parents to pray together with their children and raise them according to Godly principles and the right values. Once parents have done their part, they should trust God with the rest and allow Him to direct their children's lives.

The family should be a place where God is worshipped, where learning and the pursuit of knowledge are encouraged and embraced and where children and family members grow in a healthy environment rooted in strong values. Such families become the foundation for building a brighter and more promising future for generations to come and for Africa as a whole.
