We thought there wasn't much new to learn about the cell cycle. Turns out we were wrong! Our paper (out today @Nature) identifies a novel alternative cell cycle that regulates differentiation, not cell division. https://t.co/ayDhJtKK6U. 1/10
A single gene mutation, common to 11 pediatric patients with either #SCID or #OmennSyndrome, could one day offer clinicians an early window to diagnose and treat these inborn errors of #Tcell development. @UniofNewcastle https://t.co/csNXRPY10r

As part of the #50YearsofCell, our focus issue on Immunology is out!
This issue brings Cell’s 50th anniversary celebrations straight to your lymph nodes with reviews, perspectives and more thought-provoking articles on topics ranging from innate immunity to plant immune systems, and immunological strategies for bacterial detection.
In addition, it features research articles on the mapping of the microbiome across metastatic cancers, a time-series reconstruction of human centriole assembly and how an inhibitory ligand acts directly on CD3e to boost tumor-specific T cell cytotoxicity and limit tumor growth.

there is a really exciting project waiting for you!
This is an incredible study which goes some way to explaining the reproducibility crisis in preclinical science
Whole-genome sequencing was performed on 27 versions of the same cancer cell line (MCF7 - breast cancer)
Authors found that the genetics of the cell lines differed substantially - including for the critical cancer genes, PTEN and ESR1:
And response to cancer drugs (these are proteasome inhibitors) also differed - some cell lines were completely wiped out, while others were unbothered:
