That is part of why teen pregnancies have plummeted, which is why the far right is freaking out about the birthrate.

@WhiteBabyFac I started at 19 and still decided 2 was enough. I wish I'd finished my degree first so I could have done a better job of providing for my children when they were little. Because I delayed my education to be a SAHM, I graduated at 30 and before then had a lot of sleep for dinner.

@squiggle888 @WhiteBabyFac I was TRYING and it took me 4 years and 3 losses to have my 2nd- in my early 20s, the "prime years" they keep on about. I almost died twice in the process of having kids and spent, in total, over a year on bedrest. Childbirth is much more risky and complicated than they realize.

@RecNihilist @carlaskaufel @TheLaurenChen The issue there is that if you're impaired, you're more likely to live in poverty. In the US, this means you have less access to BC. Women in this situation are also more likely to depend financially on a partner and are more vulnerable to abuse. Meaning she can't really say no.

@RecNihilist @carlaskaufel @TheLaurenChen As a teacher, students I have seen with cognitive impairments more often have a family history of similar disabilities (like when four siblings are all cognitively impaired, usually at least one of their parents is as well), rather than just having an older mother.

My grandmother had four children back to back when my grandparents were in their late 20's (he fought in WWII, so they were apart early in their marriage), and then at 41 and 43 had two surprises. Catholic, so no BC, so this was just luck. You can't plan everything.

@Steel_Accord91 @theladykatie I tried to do this when I was pregnant with my second. My doctor refused because my husband wouldn't consent to the procedure (he wanted more children because we didn't have a boy). I had to get an IUD instead, secretly, but those are not 100% effective.

@Muricaenjoyer @TheEcho13 So I was in this situation with my ex. I left, and I wish I had left sooner. It was a symptom of much deeper problems, and while I tried other routes to solve the sex issue (self-care, outsourcing), the core issues were still there. Sex is a temperature gage for the relationship.

@CrossAndCaptial Women did not enter the workforce in the 1960s. Low income and single women have always been part of the work force, and entered historically male-dominated careers during WWII.
